Yearbook Cover Design Contest (6th Graders Only)
Attention 6th Grade Trailblazers! We want YOU to design the cover of the 2021-2022 Bridge Valley Yearbook. The theme should reflect the theme your class voted for: Building Bridges to Our Future. Submissions must be received no later than Friday, January 7th, 2022 and adhere to the following requirements to be entered into the contest:
· Use 8 ½ x 11” plain (unlined) white paper in a vertical orientation (like this flyer).
· Leave at least a ½ inch border on all sides.
· Use only original artwork (no computer animated or generated images, graphics, or drawings).
· Proofread for spelling errors.
· Do not fold or bend your submission.
· Add color! Use colored pencils, markers, crayons, and/or paints to make your design pop!
· Do not put your name on your cover design. Put your first and last name, as well as your teacher’s last name, lightly on the back in pencil, making sure it does not show through to the front.

Events & Activities Supported by the HSA Through Volunteers & Donations
Each year the BVE HSA allocates $5,000 to Teacher Grants. Teachers can apply for funds to aid in the develop of new or original curriculum-related activities; to foster partnerships or collaborations with educators or organizations; to design innovative teaching strategies; to advance professional development; or to strengthen the classroom environment. Last year, grants helped fund WiFi to the outdoor classroom, Magnetic Math Manipulatives, Sensory Activities, access to multiple digital resources, and Legos and baseplates for a “Build Me a Story Lego Unit" in QUEST.
#2 - The Nurse Discretionary Fund & Blazer Blessings
In collaboration with the Nurse & Administration, the BVE HSA ensures EVERY student has what they need to succeed at Bridge Valley, including basic essentials. Additionally, the HSA ensures EVERY student is able to participate in activities & events, providing funding when needed.
Blazer Blessings supports Bridge Valley Families that find themselves in hard times, assisting with the annual giving tree or organizing meal trains when needed.
#3 - Teacher Appreciation
Twice a year the BVE HSA provides lunch to the Teachers & Staff to honor their endless commitment to the educational and emotional development of our students.
#4 - Book Fair & Holiday Boutique
Both events require a lot of volunteers to plan, setup, and executive these beloved traditions that teach students the importance of budgeting, as well as giving.
#5 - Science Alive
In March the BVE HSA sponsors a week-long event that encourages students to explore the wonders of science. Students learn about relevant scientists, participate in hands-on activities, and enjoy an interactive assembly.
#6 - Gardening
In collaboration with the teachers, the BVE HSA encourages students to get their hands dirty from April - June by planting, caring for, and harvesting herbs & vegetables provided by NoneSuchFarms. The bountiful harvest is shared with families and local food banks. Kindergarten students plant flowers that thrive during the summer months, welcoming back students in the Fall.
#7 - Yearbook
Together with the Classroom Photographers, the BVE HSA helps capture the memories of our school community throughout the year and provides an opportunity for families to purchase a keepsake book in late April.
...and more! In addition to the many activities & events listed above, the BVE HSA works tirelessly to provide family fun nights, dine & donate events, Parent-Student dances...
