Curriculum Focus:
Each week we will share with you what our students are learning in our focus departments this term, below you will find the topics for Sociology and Psychology:
Year 10 Sociology:
This term year 10 students are learning about the role of Education in society. They will explore various Sociological theories and their views on the purpose of education, alongside comparing and contrasting, evaluating and analysing the content covered.
Year 11 Sociology:
Year 11 are currently studying social stratification. As part of this topic they are required to synthesis knowledge covered across previous topics and explain how being part of a specific group can affect an individuals opportunities and life chances.
Year 12 Psychology:
This term students have started to learn about Memory. They will cover not only the ways in which we process information, but will also apply this to relevant contexts such as the reliability of eye witness testimony.
Year 13 Psychology:
Year 13 are currently studying forensic psychology. They have explored how we define criminal behaviour and are now looking at the ways in which various branches of psychology explain criminal behaviour. This topic has strong links with the nature Vs nurture debate and is often a favourite of the students!
CTS Ski Trip:
Following the success of the recent ski trip we wanted to share with you some of the photographs of our fabulous students. Many of the students who attended had never skied before but all managed to ski down the mountain and had a great time learning and perfecting their new skills. During the trip students also went bowling and to a trampoline park as part of the evening activities. The students were great ambassadors for our school, well done to you all!
PE Achievements:
Year 7 Boys Indoor Athletics - the boys qualified for the School Games County Indoor Athletics Competition on 29th February. They competed across a range of different track and field events and worked hard to score points for the team. Although we didn’t win a medal they were up against some very athletic schools and remained positive throughout. Well done to Myles C, Dusan, Adrian, Piers, William, Damjan and Jayden-James.
U15 Girls Football - the girls had their first football fixture of the year and played against Corby Business Academy, Kingswood and Prince William. The first 2 games were hugely competitive and required the team to perform some exceptional passages of play to get past the defence and score important goals.
We won all three game beating Prince William (2-1), Kingswood (1-0) and Corby Business Academy (5-0).
Well done to the team, Orla M (captain), Freya B, Sophie M, Erin B, Amber B, Halli M, Mirren and Katie W.
