RUNWAY OF ROSES
The Runway Blooms: A Celebration of Style at MAAC
On Sunday, the MAAC transformed into a vibrant hub of fashion and spirit for the highly anticipated Runway of Roses, a dazzling showcase now in its second year. Organized by a powerful collaboration – the Athletic Club, PTA, and Arts Council – the event celebrated student talent and flair while raising valuable funds for St. Rose's initiatives.
The runway blossomed as students, brimming with confidence, strutted their stuff, modeling a breathtaking collection of fashions curated by local boutiques, stores, and vendors. Each outfit represented a unique style, proving that fashion is a language without borders.
The energy crackled as friends, family, and supporters came together to witness the students shine on the runway. Enthusiastic applause filled the air with every confident step, a true reflection of the dedication and effort poured into every detail of the event.
A heartfelt thank you goes to everyone who made this occasion a success – those who attended, the students who bravely stepped outside their comfort zones, and the generous boutiques, stores, and vendors who showcased their talent by lending the stunning fashions.
The proceeds raised will directly impact MAAC by supporting various programs and initiatives, enriching the educational experience for every student.

AP Environmental Science Takes Learning Outdoors
Mrs. Brownett's AP Environmental Science class at St. Rose High School had an exciting day of learning last week – they took their studies outdoors! In a hands-on lesson, students measured carbon sequestration in trees and identified tree species under the sunshine. It was a perfect blend of education and nature appreciation, showcasing the class's commitment to holistic learning.
STUDENTS RAISE OVER $14K FOR COVENANT HOUSE
Shining Light on Homelessness: St. Rose High School Sleep Out Event
St. Rose High School's commitment to service and community engagement was illuminated brightly during the recent Sleep Out event, where students and staff came together to support Covenant House, a sanctuary for homeless youth. Emily Killeen, John Patterson, and Nayla Kinney emerged as the top fundraisers, collectively raising over $3,000. Among them, Emily's outstanding effort saw her collect over $1,000, reflecting the school's dedication to making a tangible difference in the lives of those in need.
The event, held on the school grounds, was more than just a fundraiser—it was a powerful educational experience. Two staff members from Covenant House, along with two current residents, joined the students for a program from 8 to 10 PM. This session included engaging activities and a thought-provoking question-and-answer session aimed at deepening the students' understanding of Covenant House's mission and the challenges faced by young adults aged 18 to 22 who are experiencing homelessness.
As the evening progressed, the community spirit soared. The mood was one of camaraderie and compassion as students and staff came together to construct makeshift living spaces for the night. This simple act served as a poignant reminder of the comforts often taken for granted—comforts that homeless teens may lack.
Following the activities, Fr. John Paul celebrated mass at 10 PM, providing a moment for reflection and gratitude. Then, as participants stepped outside to spend the night in their temporary shelters, they were reminded of the harsh realities faced by those without stable housing.
The Sleep Out event was not merely about raising funds; it was about raising awareness and empathy. Covenant House's mission to provide young people with counseling, education, employment opportunities, and secure housing resonated deeply with the St. Rose community. By participating in the Sleep Out, students and staff sent a clear message of solidarity to homeless youth: "You are not alone."
The significance of the Sleep Out movement cannot be overstated. It brings together people from all walks of life—executives, professionals, students, influencers, and individuals—united by a common purpose: to support youth overcoming homelessness. The funds raised through Sleep Out serve as a lifeline for these young individuals, offering them hope for a brighter future.
At St. Rose High School, the commitment to service extends beyond the classroom walls. The Sleep Out event exemplified the school's ethos of compassion, empathy, and community engagement. As we continue our journey of service, let us remember the words of Covenant House: "We serve young people experiencing or at risk of homelessness or human trafficking with absolute respect and unconditional love." Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those in need, one act of kindness at a time.

Michael cherished his time at St. Rose, especially the camaraderie found on the basketball court with his friends.
On Saturday, April 20th, 2024 at 11:00 am, head over to the MAAC at St. Rose High School for a 3 ON 3 Basketball Tournament.
Let's relive those unforgettable St. Rose days while raising funds for a meaningful cause.
Entry into the tournament is $90 per team / $30 per player, play time is 15 minutes half court.
Registration closes on Monday, April 15th.

ANOTHER PTA CLOTHING DRIVE SUCCESS
Organized by the St. Rose High School Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), their Spring Clothing Drive was a resounding success! Thanks to the generosity of our entire school community, we collected a truckload of fantastic donations.
A special thank you goes out to all the families who cleaned out their closets and donated gently used clothing, shoes, accessories, soft household goods, small toys, stuffed animals, and blankets. Your contributions will directly benefit the students at St. Rose Grammar School and St. Rose High School.
The outpouring of support from our community was truly heartwarming. Whether you donated items, volunteered your time, or simply helped spread the word, your contribution made a real difference. Together, we are ensuring that our students have the resources they need to thrive.
Thank you once again for your incredible generosity!
