March Character Trait: Faithfulness
This month CCA students are focusing on the character trait of Faithfulness. This was also the ACSI national day of prayer theme for this year. Psalm 119:90 says, "Your faithfulness continues through all generations; you established the earth, and it endures." We asked three students what faithfulness means to them, and here is what they said. Collin from 8th grade said, “Faithfulness is believing in God and knowing that He will take care of you.” Kimber in 3rd grade said, “Faithfulness is being truthful and trusting in God.” Isabella W in 5th grade said, “Faithfulness means being faithful to God, believing in Him, and reading the Bible.” --Emma
Devotion Corner
Faithfulness Devotion
This week's devotion on Faithfulness comes from Love Worth Finding Ministries. According to Adrian Rogers, "Faithfulness is integrity, trustworthiness, and loyalty; it means people can count on us. It is a quality we all admire, and it is what God requires of His children." Click on the following link to read or play the audio version of his sermon, which is based on Galatians 5:22. https://www.lwf.org/sermons/audio/faithfulness-1444
Survey Says:
This week's Survey Say’s question was, "Would you rather play an instrument or sing?" It was a hard question for some, but 55 votes went for playing an instrument, while singing received 39 votes. According to aswltd.com, more than one-half (52%) of U. S. households have at least one person, age 5 or older, who is currently playing a musical instrument, as compared to 37% in the U. K. and 36% in Australia. – Carissa
Recycling Assembly
Teresa Heckenlively, Economic Development Director for the Quad-Lakes Waste Management District J, visited Clinton Christian Academy on Wednesday, Feb. 28 to present an assembly to students in grades 3-12 about recycling. Missouri averages 11,000 tons of trash a day. Households average 5 and 1/2 lbs of trash daily. Landfills are filling up. Ms. Heckenlively went through a trash bag that she brought to show us and went through the bag item by item to determine if its contents were recyclable. Things like milk cartons, plastic cups, soda cans, boxes, paper rolls, old eggs and carrots, glass and even magazines can be recycled. Sadly, 80% of recyclable items get contaminated before they can be recycled. By the end of Ms. Heckenlively's demonstration, the 5 1/2 pounds of trash she began with, was decreased to only 14 ounces with everything recyclable removed from the bag! Ms. Heckenlively also talked about the natural resources that were used to make products for humans, emphasizing that recycling is important in order to preserve the wonderful world that God created for us to enjoy! One must never forget that we have been charged with a great responsibility in caring for God's creation. The assembly concluded with a brief video demonstrating how aluminum cans (recyclable products) are produced beginning with mining bauxite from the earth until the finished product! This video was a great example of how recycling can help preserve our natural resources!
Special thanks to Quad-Lakes Waste Management Office for their support of CCA. This assembly was part of the two grants CCA recently received to replace the pea gravel on our playground with pour-in-place surfacing (made from recycled tires). One grant in the amount of $38,035 was awarded by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. DNR provides a range of services to help Missouri citizens, communities and businesses protect and improve the air, land and water resources that we all share. The department also provides opportunities to learn more about Missouri's natural and cultural history at our state parks and historic sites. Another grant in the amount of $25,000 was awarded by Quad-Lakes Waste Management District J office. Both grant projects were completed by Taylormade Company in December 2023. Approximately two-thirds of the CCA playground now has the pour-in-place surfacing. CCA plans to continue pursuing grant opportunities in the future until the total area of the playground has the pour-in-place surfacing, which will provide a safer and cleaner playground for our students! Class Spotlight: Spanish II
For the past two weeks, the Spanish II class has been learning about gauchos. Gauchos are cowboys and herdsmen that are found in Latin American countries like Argentina and Brazil. Students learned about the clothes they wear, their history, and how they tend to their livestock. For a gaucho, horseback riding is second nature. Gauchos live off the land with their families, often being cut off from the outside world. Instead of settling at one ranch, gauchos commonly travel from place to place as nomads. This lifestyle dates back to the early colonial era of Argentina, when Spanish settlers introduced cattle to the region. After they finished that chapter, student began learning about travelers. They learned about what they bring with them when they travel, and the process of going out of the country. --Kennedy

The HS had their meeting on Friday, March 1st, and it was led by Jeff Lowe. Mr. Lowe spoke on going through a slump. He shared that when we are going through a slump, we should remember that God is our number 1. He spoke on how we shouldn't worry about what people think of us, and our focus should not be to impress people, but in everything that we do, we should do it for the Lord.
Next JH meeting is March 15th
