November 21st
Early Dismissal - 12:45 p.m. - Wednesday, November 22
Remember to put your child's absence in Genesis or call the attendance line if your child will be absent on Wednesday.
Family Conferences
Please remember to note in your calendars that during the week of Family Conferences (December 4th through December 8th) the students are dismissed at 12:45pm. There will be no lunch this week.
Cell Phones
Please note that smartwatches are still considered a cell phone and must be kept in your child's backpack during the school day. While many students recognize this and keep the watches in their backpacks, many are wearing the devices around the school.
I have reminded all of the students about the school policy in the handbook. Below is the electronics policy for your information.
Electronics (i.e. DS games, iPod, iTouch, cellular phones)
Electronics must be turned off during school hours and remain in backpacks at all times. If a child is observed using any electronics at recess, during morning line up or lunch the item will be taken and returned the next afternoon or it may be picked up by a parent after school. The school is not responsible for lost, broken or stolen items.
The article Devices Mess with Your Brain by Markham Heid is also an interesting read regarding how smartphones might be affecting our ability to think deeply and concentrate.
