April 19, 2021 - SPECIAL PSSA EDITION
PSSA Testing - Spring 2021
No - it's NOT Friday already!
This is a SPECIAL EDITION of my newsletter that is completely dedicated to PSSA testing. Testing will begin the first week of May and will require a great deal of logistical planning due to our COVID schedule and limitations. Please take a few moments to carefully review all of this information so that you know what to expect. Our revised schedule will impact everyone - particularly students who are virtual and those who have opted out of testing. As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions.
Previous Communication from Rose Tree Media School District - PSSA Testing

Testing for Fully-Virtual Students
The Pennsylvania Department of Education does not provide schools the option to administer the PSSA remotely. Students in the fully-virtual cohort who will be taking the test will need to attend in-person on testing days.
- Students should report to the Auditorium Lobby by 7:55 AM.
- Students must provide their own transportation to and from school on these days.
- Students will attend school for the assessment only. They will be dismissed at the conclusion of the assessment and attend their remaining classes virtually from home.
- With the exception of students who will be testing in a small group due to IEP or 504 accommodations, fully-virtual students will test together in a large-group space. They will not be in their normal classrooms.
***VERY IMPORTANT***
In order for us to plan accordingly for our fully-virtual students, please take a moment to complete this short survey.
Student Opt-Out for PSSA Testing
Parents/Guardians who wish to opt their child out of testing for religious reasons must contact Linda Gallagher via email or telephone at (610) 627-6124, no later than April 27, 2021, to schedule an appointment to review the testing materials and sign a confidentiality agreement. Parents/Guardians who intend to refuse testing should send an email request to Dr. Salladino no later than April 23, 2021. Please kindly adhere to these deadlines so that we may plan appropriately.
In-person students who opt-out will not report to school until the end of the testing session - refer to the schedule above for times. Students must provide their own transportation. Students will have an assignment to work on asynchronously at home.
Fully-virtual students who opt-out of testing will not log-on to their classes until after testing has ended. Students will have an assignment to work on asynchronously at home.
