AISD At- Home Learning Plan
March 24th - April 3rd
Dear Aledo ISD families,
AISD has developed an At-Home Learning Website that will contain enrichment learning activities for students to engage in during the two-week closure period from March 24-April 3, 2020.
The At-Home Learning Website will be launched by March 24th.
At-Home Learning Key Information
- The learning opportunities that have been designed for the two-week closure focus on reinforcing and enriching knowledge and skills that have been previously taught.
- Students will be able to choose enrichment learning activities from a choice board each day that are designed to deepen student understanding of essential skills.
- The choice board includes varied learning approaches, including digital and non-digital activities.
- The activities that students choose to work on will not be graded, but we do encourage students to set aside time daily to engage in the enrichment activities. A daily activity log is recommended for students to record completed activities and to reflect on their learning, but it is not required (daily activity log example provided below).
- In the event that the district is closed longer than two weeks, teachers are engaging in training and planning in preparation for a distance-learning model. *Detailed information about this plan will be communicated if an extended closure is announced.
- ALC students will resume their regular online course work from home beginning March 24 and will receive communication from their classroom teachers.
WAYS THAT WE WILL SUPPORT STUDENTS & FAMILIES DURING OUR CLOSURE
- AISD is working toward being able to distribute technology and hotspots to students that do not have access at home. Details regarding distribution of devices will be shared soon.
- AISD will offer school supplies to families in need.
- Teachers will offer daily virtual office hours where they are available to answer student questions/concerns via email or phone conference. Please be aware that calls from your teacher may come through labeled as Private, Anonymous, or No Caller-ID.
- Technology support will be available to all families as needed.
- Parents and students will receive regular communications from the school district and teachers via social media, text messages, website, and emails.
We truly appreciate all that you are doing to keep our students safe and healthy, and we are grateful for the strong partnership that we have with our parents and caregivers.
Thank you in advance for your support with providing learning opportunities at home, we recognize that an at-home learning environment presents challenges and will be quite an adjustment for students and parents. We are working diligently to create a system that minimizes the burden on parents as much as possible.
There is no question that we have the very best students, staff, families and community and together we can overcome adversity and continue to excel in providing exceptional experiences to all of our students.
Sincerely,
Amber Crissey
Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction
