Maybe get some ghost encounters while there because people say that Alcatraz still has some remaining spirits of prisoners . They have even had ghost hunters investigate it and they got some creepy stuff .
Alcatraz is a 50 acher island surrounded by chilly waters of the California San Francisco.
Alcatraz house some of the most difficult and dangerouse felons during its years of operation from 1934 to 1963 .
Alcatraz was usually known as the rock because it was surrounded with sharp rock that would cut you hands and feet .
It had been a prison during the civil war time . It had 600 main cells and prisoners occupied 336 cells , it even had a Spanish dungeon but it was rare to put the Spanish in there .
There had been over 1000 people at Alcatraz including gards workers and prisoners all together .
By the late 1850s, the U.S. Army had begun holding military prisoners at Alcatraz. Isolated from the mainland by the cold, strong waters of San Francisco Bay, the island was deemed an ideal location for a prison. It was assumed no Alcatraz inmate could attempt to escape by swimming and survive.
Over the years, there were 14 known attempts to escape from Alcatraz, involving 36 inmates. The Federal Bureau of Prisons reports that of these would-be escapees, 23 were captured, six were shot and killed during their attempted getaways, two drowned and five went missing and were presumed drowned.
The most famous escape attempt resulted in a battle, from May 2 to May 4, 1946, in which six prisoners overpowered cellhouse officers and were able to gain access to weapons, but not the keys needed to leave the prison.
But in 1963 the three brothers that had been put in there had escaped using the strength the brain and the creative .
After the escape they closed it down
Even though the prison has been empty for decades some believe spirits of prisoners still remain .
Each year, hundreds of athletes participate in the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon, proving that (with training and proper gear) it is possible to swim from Alcatraz and survive. First held in 1980, the event includes a 1.5-mile swim to San Francisco, plus an 18-mile bike ride and 8-mile run.
And there still trying to find the brothers today.

The Alcatraz complex included , industries , electric shop ,laundry ,officers club building 64 , power station , officers apartments , recreation hall , residential family cottages , warrants house , light house , recreation yard .
In the early 70's Alcatraz became apart of of "the golden gate national recreation area ".
All though Alcatraz may be a scary place it's still pretty cool to learn about the history there . I think you all should go I mean who doesn't like a good scare anyways
