A Note from Mrs. Zellner and Mr. West
Dear Maple Dale families,
We are excited to begin planning for the 2024-25 school year! Please complete the below linked Student Information Form. This provides us with valuable information about your child’s learning style as we begin working on class placement.
The class placement process takes many hours of careful thought and consideration. We always consider the individual child while recognizing that each child is also part of a complex equation. We evaluate learning abilities, class size, social and academic strengths and challenges, diversity, as well as positive and non-constructive relationships to create balanced, high quality learning environments for all students.
We will make every effort to ensure friends are placed in the same class when possible. Rest assured that your child will see friendly and familiar faces when they return to school. Your child’s teacher knows your child well and will place them with their best interests in mind.
You can provide your child with a successful beginning to the school year by responding to their classroom assignment with positive enthusiasm. We can all work together to enhance personal development and provide a positive school climate for all.
Thank you for your understanding as we prepare for next school year.
We hope everyone had a wonderful weekend,
Mindy and Keena

District Culture and Climate Survey
Positive school climates are essential for creating the environment, resources, and relationships necessary for students to thrive. As part of our ongoing commitment to understanding and improving our school culture, Sycamore Community Schools is conducting a Culture & Climate survey for the second consecutive year.
This year, we've collaborated with SHP, a new third-party group, to administer the survey. The updated questions aim to provide a more nuanced understanding of our school environment, and SHP's expertise ensures a fresh perspective in collecting and analyzing valuable feedback.
Your opinions are crucial in shaping the direction of our school community. Please click here to begin the survey. The survey is designed to be anonymous, and no personal information will be collected.
To maintain the integrity of the results, SHP will be collecting and analyzing the responses, sharing their findings with the district. We appreciate your candid feedback and encourage you to complete the survey by Monday, March 11, 2024, at 11:59 pm.
Thank you for being an integral part of our commitment to creating safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environments in Sycamore Community Schools.
Incoming 5th Grade Families - Save the Dates!
The week of March 4th, teachers will be visiting each elementary school to demonstrate the music choices available in the fifth grade. Following this informational presentation, students wishing to play an instrument are required to attend the Rising 5th Grade Instrument Fair to try the instruments on either March 16th (10:00-3:00) or March 18th (5:00-8:00). Click here for more information and to sign up.
We will host a Rising 5th Grade Parent/Guardian Orientation Night on Thursday, April 25th from 6-8 PM. The evening will include a whole group introductory presentation followed by optional information sessions. Parents/guardians will leave this event with an understanding of the teaming structure, schedule, building layout, activities/clubs, and services offered at E.H. Greene.
“EHG Get Connected Day'' is scheduled for August 5, 2024 from 8:30-3:30. Families should allot one hour within this time frame to visit stations throughout the Greene School in preparation for the new school year. These stations will include: school pictures, material orders, 5th grade computer pickup, team t-shirt orders, and more!
Our rising 5th grade student orientation program, Greene 101, is tentatively scheduled for August 6/7, 2024. This one-day program is optional, but HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for incoming 5th graders to help with their transition. Enrolled students will attend for one of the scheduled dates. Registration and payment for Greene 101 will be available through Final Forms. More information will be communicated this spring!
