The Amazing Writing of Lord Byron: By Dalton Fincher
A Man With Many Friends and Many Enemies
John Gatton called him "The most fashionable poet of the day" in his biography of Byron (Gatton). Byron's contemporaries however, saw him as scandalous!
Thomas Carlyle once said "Close thy Byron, open thy Goethe" (“George Gordon Lord Byron” 312-314).

His Amazing Work
In Don Juan, Byron describes a love interest with passion:
"Haidee was Nature's bride, and knew not this;
Haidee was Passion's child, born where the sun
Showers triple light, and scorches even the kiss
Of his gazelle-eyed daughters" ("Don Juan" 373)
With this same passion Byron can create a darker scene as he did in "Darkness"
"I had a dream, which was not all a dream.
The bright sun was extinguish'd and the stars
Did wander darkling in the eternal space,
Rayless and pathless, and the icy earth." ("Darkness" 322)
