Freshman News Update!
State of the Class Address:
First, I’d like to start off by saying Happy New Year!!! Congratulations for making it this far into Freshman year! Just one hundred and twenty days until the last day of school! Give or take a few.
Second, on behalf of the Student Council I’d like to say thank you to those of you who attended this year’s Semi-Formal. Everyone looked absolutely stunning! Hopefully you enjoyed it and had a great time! I know I did! Although, it might have been better if some people kept their shirts on. But, hey, you do you!
Third of all, congratulations to the Semi-Formal Prince and Princess. (AKA: Ryan Brinkhoff and Kate Stillson) You both looked great, and rocked the dance floor! I got the chance to meet up with the winners and get their thoughts on the night and ask some questions!
Semi-Formal Interviews:
Liliana Lomeli interviewing Kate Stillson:
Lili: Did you happen to go to the dance solo or with a group?
Kate: With a group.
Lili: Were you shocked or surprised that you won?
Kate: Yes, I was surprised because my friends did not tell me that they were going to vote for me.
Lili: What is your greatest memory of that night besides winning?
Kate: My greatest memory is dancing with my friends and just getting to be ourselves.
Lili: What are your thoughts on your first High-School dance? Was it as you expected or different?
Kate: It was as I expected. Although, there wasn’t as many people there as I thought there would be.
Lili: Is there anything else that could have made the night better?
Kate: No, my friends and I had a great time.
Liliana Lomeli Interviewing Ryan Brinkhoff:
Lili: What is your go to dance song?
Ryan: I don’t dance.
Lili: What are your thoughts on winning?
Ryan: Cool.
Lili: What did you wear?
Ryan: I wore my flamingo shirt, green jacket, pants, and shoes.
Lili: And where did you get those items?
Ryan: I either got them at Tilly’s, the Vans Store, or Goodwill.
Lili: What is your best memory of the night besides winning.
Ryan: Eating candy.
Lili: What are your thoughts on your second High-School dance. Because I believe you went to homecoming?
Ryan: Yea, it was cool.
Again, thank you to all of those who attended! Have a great rest of the school year! Best of luck!

Sports Update:
On Thursday, January 25th, Alex Bowers, Sam Schlatter, Andre de Freitas, Landon Shelt, and Sebastian Guillen will all be hoping to compete at the preliminary swimming event. Two days later, any of the five swimmers who are able to perform well enough will be competing at the NLC Championship, on Saturday, January 27th.
At the girls NLC diving championship, Reagan Koble was the only NorthWood freshman to compete, earning 11th place out of 13 competitors. Only one other freshman competed at the event, who went to Concord. The boys freshman basketball team currently has an overall record of 2-8, with a conference record of 0-1, and doesn't have their NLC tournament until early February. The girls freshman basketball team has an overall record of 5-7 and a conference record of 1-1, with their NLC tournament scheduled for January 27th at Northridge.
Good luck to all the freshman athletes as you continue to contend in different events, and congratulations on the ones you have already competed in!
