Student-Led Conferences
Student-Led Conferences are coming up on Oct. 13 and 14.
Wednesday, Oct. 13, from 4:00-7:00 will be reserved for families requiring a remote conference option.
- Virtual conference spots will be on a first come, first serve basis, so please consider joining us in-person if you are able.
Thursday, Oct. 14, from 11:30-7:00 will be for families to attend conferences in-person.
If you have not received an email with information about how to sign up by Sept. 27, please reach out to your student's homeroom teacher.
Omaha Public Schools encourages middle schools to utilize a student-led approach for conferences. When you attend student-led conferences, you can expect
- To pick up your student's report card and Fall MAP scores in the commons.
- Your student to lead you to their team area.
- To be led through your student's reflection on their progress in each class by your student.
- Your student to use their Powerpoint presentation created in homeroom to present their progress and goals.
- Teachers to be available to answer any questions you have after you go through that process with your student as needed.
We look forward to seeing you and providing you support through this process.
Supporting positive, safe student decisions at school
(letter from Dr. Logan to OPS families)
Dear Omaha Public Schools Middle and High School Families,
You may have seen local or national coverage of a social media trend that involves stealing from schools or damaging school property. Often, the vandalism involves a school bathroom. Much of the activity is posted to TikTok, a social media platform.
We are writing to make you aware and to help students make positive, safe decisions. Schools throughout the metro, including several in our district, have seen the negative effects of this dangerous behavior. We will thoroughly investigate any theft or damage to school property, following our student code of conduct and involving law enforcement partners when appropriate.
The safety of our schools is always our top priority. We encourage any students and families aware of unsafe behavior to connect with their school’s principal or call the Safe Schools Hotline at 531-299-SAFE. Thank you for your partnership and support.
Sincerely,
Omaha Public Schools

Procedure Changes for Attending Home Games
We are updating our procedures for students attending home sporting events to ensure a pleasant, positive, and safe environment for students, parents, and staff. The following are changes to our process:
- Students are to sign up in advance to ensure adequate supervision. Only students on the game day list will be eligible to attend.
- Students have a designated student section to cheer on Buffett athletes.
- Students are to wear their lanyards throughout the game.
- Students must provide their own transportation and are to be picked up by 4:45 PM to ensure all students get home safely.
- As always, a student is welcome to come to an athletic event accompanied by a parent/guardian without signing up ahead of time.
Thank you for your support as we cheer on our wonderful athletes. Go Bobcats!

High Five Highlight
This section of the bulletin will highlight one story featuring Buffett Bobcats staying true to these values.
A Millionaire in Bobcat Bucks!
Declan, a 7th grader at Buffett, has been saving his Bobcat Bucks for two years. On his first visit to the school store this year, he pulls out a brick of bucks carefully counted and held together with a rubber band.
Students in every grade receive Bobcat Bucks from teachers, administrators, and other staff members as part of Buffett's reward system for following the Buffett High Five. Students can use the bucks as currency at the school store, which is open every day during Bobcat Den. There are items for sale in different incremental categories starting at 3 Bobcat Bucks and increasing to 30 Bobcat Bucks. Some of the more popular items for sale are squishies, Rubix cubes, poppers, and stylus pens. Students can also buy essential items such as replacement agendas, masks, and ID holders.
"I have 240. I have been saving them since 5th grade," Declan tells us at the school store. "You're like a millionaire in Bobcat Bucks," Mr. CK exclaims! Declan scans his options, contemplating what to purchase first. He wants to buy his dad a Christmas present.
This highlights what it means to be a Bobcat. Like many of our students, Declan's character shines in this example. His collection of Bobcat Bucks means more than a purchase at the school store. It is a sense of pride that transcends these walls of our school. It shows up in all parts of life. This is true purpose of our Buffett High Five.
Declan is a terrific example of how to Be Hardworking at school!
Code of Conduct: Access Parent Portal
Parent Portal is a great way to keep up on your child's grades at school. If you do not have a parent login, please email Darci.Watkins@ops.org to register.
Also, students have access to their grades! They check them weekly in Bobcat Den. Have your child pull up their grades from Infinite Campus right on their iPads and talk through them together.
Access the Code of Conduct here.
