Principals Message
I am also asked "What can my child do over the summer to help them get ready for the school year?". Here a few things to work on with your child that can make a world of a difference for them entering the next school year (regardless of the grade):
- Learn and memorize multiplication facts from 2s to 12s. Making good old-fashion flash cards work great, as they can be taken anywhere. I Googled "multiplication" and found many online tools to assist. Here is a free one that I found: https://www.abcya.com.
- Daily independent reading time, for at least 30 minutes. This reading can and should be any genre they want, as the key is to keep them reading. It's fun if you and your child read the same book independently and then talk about each chapter together. All public libraries have Digital books that can be checked out using the OneDrive on any digital device.
- Have your student write about their adventures and experiences throughout the summer. Or have them write a letter to one of their teachers from last year or write goals for the upcoming school year. All of these will work on their penmanship, spelling and collecting their thoughts on paper, which are key aspects for creative thinking.
*We will be posing our general supply list on our Website.
