June Edition
Once again, another school year is coming to a close. Thank you so much for letting me be your child’s school nurse! I hope everyone has a happy and healthy summer!
There are several important announcements and reminders that I would like to bring to your attention:
1. Please remember to pick up all student medications from the nurse’s office, as they will be discarded on the last day of school, June 9th, 2023. A parent or guardian must pick up medications. Any medications left, will be disposed of. Medications cannot be stored in the nurse’s office over the summer. Medications cannot be sent to WHS for rising 9th graders.
2. Rising 7th grade students need to have their Tdap/Meningococcal vaccines completed by the first day of school: August 28, 2023. The Columbus County Health Department offers these vaccines, as well as most doctor's offices. Please schedule this appointment, as soon as possible.
3. The 2023-2024 School Medication Authorization forms can be picked up in the CMS main office. An updated authorization form must be completed and signed by your doctor. Forms and medications must be brought to the school, by the parent/guardian. Students are not allowed to bring any medications to school, including over the counter medications, without this form on file.
4. If your child has a chronic medical condition, such as: Asthma, Severe Allergies, Seizures, Heart Condition, etc., please contact the school nurse. It is highly recommended that students with chronic medical conditions have a health care plan in place. These must be updated each school year. Please contact the school nurse for more information.
7th Grade Immunizations
Letters went home with 6th grade students, regarding information about the required Tdap and Meningococcal Vaccinations. These vaccinations are due by August 28, 2023. If you did not receive this letter, please contact Nurse Caison.
Sports Physicals
If your child still needs a sports physical, packets are available in the CMS front office. Packets can be completed by your child's health care provider. Sports physicals have to be updated each school year.
