What will be discussed?
Developing a better understanding of giftedness and its common characteristics assists parents in meeting the social and emotional needs of their gifted children. With this knowledge, parents can develop strategies for more effective parenting. In addition, an overview of simple steps for effective advocacy helps parents build alliances with educators to more effectively address the educational needs of their gifted children.

Dear PACE Parents,
We continued our study of Ancient Egypt this week. We discussed contributions that the Egyptians made to the world. One contribution was papyrus and we all made a sample “papyrus” sheet of paper. We also learned how to play the game of Senet. There is a game board on the back of this letter if you would like to try it out!
The students also practiced a short skit that they can present to their classmates about Socktober. I had the students brainstorm ways to promote this project. Each of my schools had great ideas and we are working on spreading the word through flyers, announcements and posting on social media.
Thank you for your support,
Meg Farley mfarley@ems-isd.net

Research Ancient Egyptian inventions. Make a list of the ones you discover and be prepared to tell us about one of them!
OR
Experiment making your own paper adding something else to the basic mix of flour and water.
