Weekly Update
STATE TESTING WEEK
This week is STATE TESTING WEEK! This is a very important week for Ranger Nation. This is our time to shine as a school and show the state just how awesome our school is! It is very important that all students arrive to school ON TIME Wednesday morning at 7:55 a.m. so they don’t miss out on any portion of the testing. Students who arrive after the test administration has begun will have to participate in a make-up test session, requiring them to miss classes at a later date. It is a state requirement that we test ALL of our students, so please help your student to get an early start on Wednesday. Breakfast will be served before school. Encourage students fill their bellies so they have their highest level of concentration during their testing session.

End of the Year Quickly Approaching
There are only 37 full days and two half days for final exams remaining this semester: less if you are a senior. Second semester is flying by. Don’t wait until it is too late to get the help you may need in your classes. We still have after school tutoring/homework help in the library every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. If you are struggling, try making it part of your routine on these days to report to the library right after school to complete your homework before going home. You might be amazed how this slight change in routine could yield huge gains in your grades.
If you failed a class first semester that is a graduation requirement, talk to your counselor about getting signed up for summer school. Summer school classes are only two and half weeks long. It’s a great, quick way to recover your lost credits so you can get back on track for an on-time graduation.
Summer school attendance is required - students must attend EVERY day of the session and arrive on time in order to receive credit. All classes are in person.
Session 1: May 29 - June 11, 8 am - 2 pm
Session 2: June 12 - June 26, 8 am - 2 pm (no class on June 21)
Pick up and drop off
Driver, please all traffic laws, both around in within our campus. Law enforcement will be making another sweep of our area, but more importantly than the prospect of getting a ticket is the potential endangerment of lives. Just this morning I had a truck stop dead in front of me on 5th St to let out a student. I don't know if I can say this without cringing internally, but 5th St is not a drop off location, especially not in the middle of the road. Yes, there is construction on the street, and yes traffic is stopped at times, but that does not diminish the need for safety. Thank you for your cooperation.
Door buzzer - updated procedures
campuses, and we now also have this device. The buzzer is located at the purple doors leading to the exterior hallway bookstore and will be the way for all visitors to enter the campus and all students arriving late to school. Here are procedural details:
All visitors to the RUHS campus will have to present their ID multiple times during school hours. We will continue to require an ID at the front gate upon arrival, and then a further ID check at the camera of the buzzer must be provided before you are buzzed into campus. Finally, you will be prompted to present the ID once more once you arrive in the attendance office. NOTE: students also running late and who need to check into the attendance office will also likely be required to present their school ID before being allowed to buzz in. Other access points to circumvent the office will be closed. All students arriving after school has begun will need to be buzzed through the purple doors.
The purple doors will no longer be a throughway for students to use during passing periods. All students coming from the T building must go through the T building hallways to re-enter campus. They will not be buzzed through the purple doors when we return from Spring Break. We are still waiting for the gates to installed on the fence around the T building, but we want to begin training on the procedures now so we can develop good habits.
Students needing to access the orchestra and piano classes will now enter and exit through the auditorium lobby. The auditorium has been released back to us for use. The lobby is monitored by a security camera, and campus monitors will also be patrolling regularly.
All of these procedures are put in place with the safety and security of all on our campus as the primary concern. We know some of these procedures are inconvenient, will advocate for additional security rather than too little if it protects our community.

Student Announcements
Student Council is still looking for staff volunteers to chaperone Prom at Skyline Country Club on April 13 from 8PM-11PM. As this is a bigger venue than our usual gym location, we do need a few more volunteers than usual. Students love seeing their favorite staff members and parents at the dances, and it'll be a fun and fancy affair, so please consider it!
Cheer tryouts for current RUHS Students will be held April 16th, 17th, and 19th after school from 3:30 - 5:30 pm. There will be a mandatory parent/guardian and athlete meeting on Tuesday, April 9th at 6 pm for anyone interested in trying out for the team. Remember if you did not participate in a sport this year you must get cleared by the athletics office to be allowed to try out. Please see Coach Lamers in Room 215 with any questions!
Interested in auditioning for dance next year? Auditions will be held next Wednesday and Thursday from 4-6 pm in the dance room. Email Ms. Yoder or stop by the dance room to sign up.
The library wants to encourage everyone to set aside time in our busy lives to read more. Why should you read?
19% of readers say that reading stops them from feeling lonely
Regular readers for pleasure have report fewer feelings of stress and depression than non-readers, and stronger feelings of relaxation from reading than from watching television or engaging with technology intensive activities
Adults who read for just 30 minutes a week are 20% more likely to report greater life satisfaction
Take some time to read today!
