News from the Principal's Office
A&M Consolidated High School
Reflections from the week of November 9th
A former Consol student who graduated from another high school visited me last Thursday to express how he wished that he would have stayed and graduated from Consol. I asked him, “Why did he feel that way?” He told me this school is different; teachers actually care and respect you for who you are. The environment is a little more welcoming and people are not so uptight. When he left my office, I began to reflect on what he shared and concluded that AMCHS is special because of the people who are dedicating to enriching the lives of others. We are a cut above and strive for excellence in everything we lay our hands to.
As one example, CSISD as a whole was recently recognized by College Board for our overall growth in AP participation and test scores. The following information was shared by College Board: “College Station ISD is one of 425 school districts in the U.S. and Canada being honored by the College Board with placement on the 6th Annual AP® District Honor Roll for increasing access to AP course work while simultaneously maintaining or increasing the percentage of students earning scores of 3 or higher on AP Exams. Reaching these goals indicates that a district is successfully identifying motivated, academically prepared students who are ready for the opportunity of AP. To be included on the 6th Annual Honor Roll, College Station ISD had to, since 2013, increase the number of students participating in AP while also increasing or maintaining the number of students earning AP Exam scores of 3 or higher.” I believe this is a testament to the commitment our AP teachers and students have in working through rigorous assignments. Moreover, this recognition shows the dedication our teachers have in preparing and helping students succeed in these challenging classes.
Our students are difference makers, too. When visiting with club presidents last Tuesday, it made my heart happy to hear all of the positive volunteer opportunities these clubs have participated in and the upcoming activities planned. The way our student body supported two sendoffs, the competitive play of our athletic teams, the state performance of Tiger Robotics and the supportive role of Tiger Band, Tiger Cheer, Bengal Belles, and AMCHS Choir made me a proud “Tiger mama.” It takes us collectively working toward the common goal of success.
I am truly grateful for you and the opportunities we have to shine! You matter to me.
