The Puma Pulse Family Newsletter
April 14, 2024
Dear Prairie Community,
On Wednesday, April 17, our school office will be closed from 2 - 4 pm so that our staff can attend district-wide training. We appreciate your understanding as we provide training to our staff so that they can continue to provide effective support for students and families.
We're excited to announce that this Friday, we'll be hosting awards assemblies to celebrate the academic achievements of our students. Invitations will be sent out to families, and we encourage you to join us as we recognize students who have scored on grade level or above on the iReady Diagnostic assessments, as well as those who are making great strides in meeting their iReady growth targets. It's a wonderful opportunity to applaud their hard work and dedication to learning. We hope to see you there to celebrate their success together!
Thursday 4/18:
10:15-10:45 3rd Grade
Friday 4/19:
8:30: 1st/2nd
9:30: 5th/6th
10:15: TK/K
1:45: 4th
As we continue our journey together in supporting our students' growth and development, we want to share some important thoughts regarding behavior and character building.
Recently, our staff has noticed a few behaviors that we believe require more consistent attention and support from both home and school. These behaviors include inappropriate language/verbal aggression, defiance/disrespect toward adults, and inappropriate play/physical contact.
To address these behaviors effectively, we are asking for your partnership. Families may notice an increase in communication from teachers and administration regarding these behaviors as we work together to support our students.
Here are some ways you can help:
- Model Positive Behavior: Children learn by example. Show them how to communicate respectfully and resolve conflicts peacefully.
- Keep Communication Open: Talk to your child about the importance of kindness and respect, and address any concerns they may have.
- Set Clear Expectations: Establish clear rules at home and consistently enforce consequences for inappropriate behavior.
- Teach Conflict Resolution Skills: Help your child learn how to manage emotions and resolve conflicts constructively.
- Monitor Media Consumption: Be mindful of the content your child consumes and choose material that promotes positive behavior.
- Encourage Positive Reinforcement: Praise and reward your child for demonstrating respect and appropriate play.
- Lead by Example: Show empathy, patience, and understanding in your own interactions.
Together, we can create a supportive environment where all students feel safe, respected, and valued. Thank you for your partnership in this important endeavor.
🏠Open House - April 17th, 5:30-6:30: Join us for a showcase of their incredible work and accomplishments throughout the year. It's a wonderful opportunity to connect with teachers and see firsthand the incredible progress your child has made.
Warm Regards,
Mrs. Schevenin, Principal and Mrs. Price, Vice Principal
