Celebrating International Women's Day: A Tribute to Empowerment and Equality
This International Women's Day, we honour and celebrate women's monumental contributions and achievements throughout history and in our contemporary world. Marked globally on March 8th, this day is a day of unity, advocacy, and action, emphasizing the vital role of women in shaping our societies, communities, and future generations.
Here at F.R. Haythorne, we recognize the indispensable influence of women in every facet of education - from inspiring educators and dedicated administrators to the enthusiastic students who walk our halls daily and the supportive network of women in our wider community.
As we commemorate this special day, let's reflect on the progress towards gender equality and the work ahead. Let's pledge to foster a culture of inclusivity and respect where students feel empowered to pursue their dreams without barriers.
To our students: let the stories of women's resilience, leadership, and creativity inspire you to break ceilings, forge paths, and uplift others. Remember, the pursuit of equality is a shared journey that calls for empathy, support, and collective action from all of us.
To the remarkable women in our school community and beyond: your strength, wisdom, and compassion light the way for future generations. Today, we celebrate you and your enduring mark on the world. Let's actively celebrate women's achievements every day as we continue towards a more balanced world.
Happy International Women's Day!
Parent/Student/Teacher Interviews
March 14th & 19th:
We wanted to let our Parents/Guardians know that we will be opening our bookings for Student/Parent/Teacher Interviews on Tuesday March 6, at 4:00 p.m.
These will be taking place on March 14 and March 19, from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. in our Large Gym. As we have shared in the past, these are 6-minute timeslots, so it is important not to book back-to-back interviews with teachers as you will need to move from one space to another. Bookings fill up fast for some of our teachers, so please look at both days, if one day is already full.
Both links will be available under the Bookings Section on our schools website, which has also shared here: Bookings | F.R. Haythorne Junior High (frhaythorne.ca)

Reset Room - CBC Radio Interview
In our school, we have a space called the Reset Room (or the Hawk Room) where students can self-refer for mental health support. This room is staffed by a certified teacher or edcational assistant that will help the student manage stress levels, support academcis, and direct the student back to class when they are in a space where they are ready and able to learn. Our EIPS mental health advisor, Mardi Hardt, recently did an interview on CBC radio discussing this important health initiative in our school division.

2023-24 School Fees
Please remember to login to your PowerSchool Parent Portal account regularly to see if your child has any outstanding school fees. Fees are often added throughout the school year to cover the costs for various activities, such as field trips, option course changes, extracurricular activities, including athletics, and late, damaged or lost textbooks. We would be grateful if you could please make payment as soon as possible for any outstanding fees.
To access your fee information, simply log in to the PowerSchool Parent Portal and go to “Student Fees.” There you can view your fees and pay them online using Visa or MasterCard debit or credit cards, or in person at the school office. All fees are due within 30 days of being posted.
If you have any questions regarding school fees or need assistance accessing your PowerSchool Parent Portal account, please contact the school office at 780-467-3800.
Has your contact information recently changed?
Have you recently moved or has your contact information changed? F.R. Haythorne Junior High encourages families to review the information the Division has on file to ensure it’s up to date. Using the Student Information Update available through the PowerSchool Parent Portal, families can review the current information on file for each student—including addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, parent and guardian information, emergency contacts, medical details and other related information—and submit any updates needed.
Reviewing and updating the form ensures the school and Division have the most up-to-date information regarding your child. Your review is especially important as the Division prepares for 2024-25 registration processes beginning in the new year.
NOTE: Only submit updates for the changes that have already taken place. If you’re moving later this school year, you’ll submit the necessary updates to your information through the Student Information Update after you’ve moved.
If you have questions about the form or any trouble with your Parent Portal account, contact the school office at 780-467-3800.
