OTSEGO LOCAL SCHOOLS
Superintendent's Weekly Update - May 4, 2018
I wanted to share with you guys a project that a few of our Art 1 students completed. The dugouts look amazing! Great job students and staff!
Message from Stephanie Monts, Weston Village Clerk - Take a look at one of Weston's Parks & Rec projects this year! If you see Jennifer Rank from Otsego High School please thank her for helping the Parks & Rec by providing student submissions to choose from and for helping the winner Abigail Brown (and a few other art students) paint these murals on the dugouts at the Weston Ball Field. Weston's Opening Day is May 12th at 11am when Weston 8U takes on Tontogany. Stop by and cheer these kids! Keep your eyes out for other projects in Weston this summer. Chapter Earns National DECA Honor
PENTA-Otsego DECA, a chapter in Ohio, recently attended DECA’s annual Leadership Recognition Reception. This event recognizes DECA leaders who have demonstrated exceptional numbers in their DECA chapter and association membership during the past school year, as well as advisors and chartered association advisors who have demonstrated extraordinary commitment to DECA Inc.
PENTA-Otsego DECA was recognized as one of the top 10 new or reactivated DECA chapters in the high school division.
The Leadership Recognition Reception convened Monday, April 23, 2018, at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia, as part of DECA’s International Career Development Conference (ICDC). Nearly 200 chapter and chartered association advisors attended the invitation-only event.
DECA is a career and technical student organization composed of more than 210,000 students who are interested in careers in marketing, entrepreneurship, finance, hospitality or management. DECA enhances the preparation for college and careers by providing co-curricular programs that integrate into classroom instruction, apply learning, connect to business and promote competition. DECA student members leverage their DECA experience to become academically prepared, community oriented, professionally responsible, experienced leaders.

According to the Ohio Department of Education, "in today’s economy, it is critical that Ohio schools prepare all students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in future learning, careers and life. Parents, educators and the business community want to prepare students for successful career paths, whether those include college degrees, industry credentials, apprenticeships, military enlistment or a combination of these."
Otsego Schools are committed to these principles and have formed a business advisory council to create a plan to assure our students are as prepared as they can be. As a starting point, in order for our students to succeed in the world after high school graduation, we want to understand the areas of skills and knowledge that you believe are most critical.

Babysitting Database: I put this database together a couple of years ago and I recently had a few more requests about wanting to start babysitting full time and the need for finding a babysitter. I thought I would share this again to help get people in contact with each other. If you previously filled the form out below, please fill it out again. I deleted all of the names from the list of babysitters, since the information was outdated.
I am not the middle man for any communication between parent and provider. I am simply willing to help gather the information for everyone. Below you will find a form to fill out if you are a babysitter in the Otsego District and accepting kids. Again, only fill out the form if you are a babysitter willing to be contacted for your services. The other link is a list of babysitters that have filled out the form and looking for additional children to babysit.
Go Knights!

Habitat for Humanity Opportunity
Please find attached a flyer with information about the build Habitat for Humanity of Wood County will be undertaking in Weston in 2019.
One of the criteria for home ownership is the willingness to complete sweat equity hours (250 for an individual applicant or 500 hours for a couple) by either working on their home build, another home build, volunteering in the community, completing home repair classes, completing Financial Peace University courses, etc. By identifying a homeowner now, they will be able to work toward completing these hours and have all hours completed prior as required prior to moving into their home.
If you have any questions, please contact Cindy Fuller.
