Immunization Requirements
Message From Health Services
Even with current school closures, immunization requirements for admission to school or child care in California for the 2019-20 and 2020-21 school years remain in place. It is important for students to contact their primary care providers to obtain their required immunizations. Complete immunizations need to be presented with registration. https://www.shotsforschool.org/
Parent/Student Handbook:
Immunizations
E.C. 48980; B.P. 5141.31; A.R. 5141.31
To be admitted to school, children must be fully immunized in accordance with the law. Children shall be excluded from school or exempted from immunization requirements only as allowed by law.
California law SB277 no longer allows for a personal beliefs exemption as of July 2016. Any students entering school for the first time in California after July 1, 2016 will need to be fully immunized or have a medical exemption from a California doctor. The only exemption now accepted is a medical exemption written by a California doctor for students for whom immunizations are not medically indicated. The exemption statement should include the vaccine(s) the child is unable to receive, the medical reason and whether it is permanent or temporary. If it is temporary, the date the exemption ends should also be included.

Student Technology Expectations an FAQs During Summer Break
What happens to the laptop when the student graduates or leaves the district?
The laptop remains district property and must be returned to the student’s school for re-use by another student, similar to textbook checkout. If your child will be leaving FUSD over the summer please contact the school regarding the return of your laptop. Students are expected to properly care for their devices and families will be held responsible for any damages that occur due to negligence.
What if the laptop is stolen?
For over a decade, every Fresno Unified laptop has had Absolute’s LoJack software installed. This software, used by districts across the country, identifies the location of the device remotely in case it is ever stolen. Police have assisted us in recovering Fresno Unified laptops that have been stolen and ended up in other states in the country. When a laptop is stolen, we have the ability to immediately shut it down, so it cannot be used or reformatted. If your laptop is stolen, please file a police report and contact the school regarding replacement
Do 6th grade students check in their devices when they move to 7th grade?
6th graders will not be checking in their devices. They will take it with them to 7th grade. The only students who will check in their device is seniors and students who will not be returning to FUSD in the fall.
Do we check devices (LCD tablets and laptops) in for the summer?
Students will not be checking in their devices for the summer. They will need to use it for the summer learning.
Can students use the devices for personal use?
Devices are meant for educational use following the District AUP.
Can students use their personal laptops for school?
We are still working on the BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) policy. It may only be allowed for certain groups of students (for example, high school students).
Who do parents or students contact with questions about their device or the educational software on the device?
For questions about the device, parents contact our Family Technology Center 457-3939.
For questions about the software (Go Math, iReady, etc), students should contact their teacher.
What if a student’s laptop doesn’t work anymore or is lost?
The student/parent will need to contact the Family Tech Center (457-3939) and the student’s laptop will be swapped out with a similar model laptop. If the device is broken due to negligence (e.g. dropping the device) a small fee of $15 for tablets and $35 for laptops will be required. Lost devices will be replaced for $35 for tablets and $100 for laptops, unless it was stolen and a police report is provided.
Who do parents contact if their student doesn’t remember their password or other information needed to login?
Contact student's teacher or school site to get the information.
LCD Tablet Check-Outs, Repairs or Replacements
Do parents need an ATLAS account for students to check out a tablet (Preschool-3rd Grade)?
Yes, we are strongly encouraging parents to create a personal ATLAS Parent Portal account, prior to receiving a tablet. https://lcd.fresnounified.org/
What if a preschool, TK, K, 1st or 2nd grade student needs to replace or has lost their LCD tablet?
If a student has a broken or has lost their LCD tablet, please call the Family Tech Center for further guidance regarding replacement at 457-3939. Families will need to pay the replacement fees.
Accessing Online Digital Resources
When logging into a Curriculum site like Wonders or GoMath, students will need to use their full email address for the Username, including @fresnou.org.
For example: Abcd@fresnou.org Students utilize these links on a frequent basis in their classrooms. Student Usernames and Passwords are located on their report cards.
Parents use this link to assist in updating your contact information in ATLAS and for assistance locating your child's Student Portal Login Information. It is very important that your contact information is current and up to date.
