Schweitzer Sets Goals for the New Year!
At Schweitzer, we have implemented a REVISED Master Schedule to meet the ongoing needs of our students. This means that your child may have subjects at different times of the day and/or lunch and recess at adjusted times than they had previously. Talk to your child about these changes as we realize that any kind of change could impact how they feel about school. Please support and encourage them as they adjust to the schedule changes. Reach out to your child's homeroom teacher with any specific questions. (New schedule below)
To meet our goals for the new year, we're looking closely at middle-of-the-year assessment data in iReady for both math and reading as well as DIBELS assessment results collected in the month of January. Teachers are currently focusing on small group instruction, differentiating instruction to meet the needs of the students, and interventions during our 30-minute WIN (What I Need) period. Teachers and staff will have additional time during our in-service day on February 22nd to work on small group instruction during WIN time, math rotations, and Guided Reading rotations.
Thank you for all your efforts in providing support to your child at home. It certainly does take a village to help our students reach grade-level benchmarks, especially after learning how to navigate the past 22 months during the pandemic!
Happy New Year!
Dr. Amy Orlando
Principal
Title I Goals 2021-2022
Early Literacy Grade-Level Benchmarks
Increase percentage of K-2 students reading at grade-level benchmark or above by 10%.
Math Growth Goals
45% of our students will reach their Typical Growth Goals by the end of the year on the i-Ready math diagnostic.
National 'GO RED' Day February 4th
Friday, February 4th is National “GO RED” Day. It’s a day to wear red to support and raise money and awareness for the American Heart Association. It’s also about sharing heart health facts and women coming together to take action for women’s heart health. Please join the American Heart Association (AHA) and Schweitzer in raising money for research and take actions by uniting to prevent heart disease and stroke. Together, we can fight the No. 1 killer of women-cardiovascular disease. We’re asking students and staff to wear RED and donate $1 or more.

Mrs. Hanley's Third Graders Demonstrate C.A.R.E.S.!
Ms. Hanley's F4 cherubs earn Brownie Points when the entire class is recognized by another adult in the building for demonstrating CARES behavior. When the class earns 8 Brownie Points, they celebrate with a class reward. Today the students enjoyed wearing their pajamas and playing fun board games the students brought from home. One student even created a game to bring! The morning snow added to the excitement! Ms. Hanley, Mrs. Merrill, Ms. Monteiro, and Dr. Orlando are so proud of the class!
