Google Slides is one of my favorite tools to use collaboratively in the classroom. Teacher can set up a template, share an editable format with students and then have each student/group of students complete an individual slide. Once the slides are completed, students are left with a comprehensive resources. Collaborative Google Slides are made even easier if you use Google Classroom to deliver them! Think of it as digital jigsawing. Here are just a few ways this can be utilized:
Collaborative AVP
Use Google Slides to create a collaborative AVP study. Format the slides with the vocabulary word as the title and a way to analyze the word in the body. Student groups will each do one word, and be left with a vocabulary booklet of all the other words. Take it a step further by giving completed copies to students, and allowing them to add their own notes to each word as the unit progresses.
Science CER
Recently I worked with Corry Thompson, Science Facilitator, on a CER activity. The students completed a series of small labs regarding a crime scene. After they completed the labs, student groups analyzed one of the labs more deeply using the CER process. Once the slide presentation was finished, the students had in depth CERs for each lab. Talk about a win for both content and technology!
ABC Book
Use Google Slides to create collaborative ABC books over any topic you wish. Fill in each slide with the letter of the alphabet and the required information. Then, have each student take a letter/collection of letters. This will give you a digital book on the topic.
Exit Ticket
Use Google Slides as a quick exit ticket/formative assessment. Share the presentation with a slide dedicated to each student. Have students answer a question, share an ah-ha moment or document their learning in another way. They can even insert pictures that support their understanding. Once finished, allow other students to scroll through the presentation and add comments or shared understandings.
Groups in One Presentation
Alice Keeler of Teacher Tech shared this great idea about small group work in Google Slides. Instead of having students create their presentations in separate groups, and then share them with the whole class, have students create group presentations all in the same template. By color coding the slides, you are able to easily see where one group ends and another begins. Now the whole class can easily explore each other's presentations.

Degan Elementary- Nicole White
This year the LMS at Degan set up library stations. Her stations are student centered, literacy focused and engaging. The students at Degan love coming to the library to both check out books and participate in all the activities provided for them by Mrs. White!
