ALICE Lockdown Procedure Review With Students
We would like to inform you about an upcoming assembly on Monday, March 4, dedicated to reviewing and reinforcing our building lockdown safety procedures. The safety and well-being of our students and staff are of paramount importance, and regular reviews of these procedures are essential to ensuring a secure learning environment. During the assembly, we will review information on the lockdown protocols and address any questions or concerns students may have. Your understanding and cooperation are greatly appreciated as we prioritize the safety of East Middle School. Thank you for your continued support and if you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact Officer Whitt at 810-591-3596.
Do You Have Books To Donate?
It's time to spring clean your bookshelves and help out other kids for a March is Reading month contest!
The week of March 11th, student council will be collecting new and gently used books before school. Please bring in your donations and drop them off in the atrium on the way to class.
The donations will be given to Anderson and McGrath Elementary schools and be passed out to other Grand Blanc students and classrooms.
News from our Nurses
Vaping
10% of U.S. high-school students and 4.6% of middle schoolers vape as of 2022. E-cigarettes have created a new trend of nicotine addiction among American teens. The FDA and U.S. Surgeon General have declared it an epidemic.
What are the signs of use?
Vaping is easy to hide, and the signs can be easy to miss. Unlike traditional cigarettes, cigarettes don’t leave the telltale scent of tobacco. If you notice any of the following things, it’s best to talk with your child about whether or not they are vaping.
- Presence of unfamiliar technology
- Online purchases or packaging
- Faint sweet or fruity scents
- Behavioral and mood changes
- Increased irritability or restlessness
- Cutting back on caffeine
- Desire for flavor due to tastebud degradation
- Pneumonia
- Increased thirst
- Nosebleeds
