Creating an IGP for your High School Student
IGP
The IGP is of golden significance. In a sense, it is a contract of confidence for our families that if they follow the plan, their student will graduate. It is crucial this plan stays updated with every change. It may seem slightly overwhelming to create the IGP for your student, but do not worry. We have Becky Skaggs our High School Student Success Coordinator, who is ready to help you with any questions. Our High School Counselor team double checks the IGP for you once it is completed by you and the family. We have all the bases covered. Click here to dive in.
Preparing for your Meeting
When preparing for your HS meeting, please bring the following items with you -
1) A copy of your student's transcript which can be downloaded from the student's dashboard.
- First, go to the student's dashboard by clicking on their name in the roster.
- Then, across the top is a blue list of tabs. One of the selections is "Transcripts."
- Notice, the "Title" column notes the course title of the class. To the left of that you will see a modifier that says whether the course is AG or not.
- To the right is the "Trans Cat" (transcript categories), the column that indicating the graduation requirement that is being met by that class and then on the far right, "AG Req" indicates the AG requirement that is met by the class.
2) Review the student's transcript before the meeting and enter previously completed courses into a rough IGP. When you have your meeting, you can then build upon what has already been completed and move forward in your planning with the family.
Create your Own IGP
It is best practice to send a blank form to your families before your IGP Meeting so the family can discuss and bring their input to the meeting
Learning from Common Errors on an IGP
- Don't forget to choose honors or AP for your students wanting competitive transcripts.
- Elective Sciences do not fulfill Science graduation requirements. For example, Marine Biology cannot count for Biology graduation requirement).
- Elective Arts do not count for VAPA (Visual and Performing Arts) graduation requirement.
- Integrated Math is equal to Algebra 1.
- If an elective course is approved AG, make it AG.
- High school graduation requirement is one year VAPA or one year foreign language. Pay close attention to the charts.
What do I do once it is complete?
Mark your main brain that the IGP is complete. Share your IGP with your HSSC: Emily Boele. For 10-12th grade, you will share it with Elske Thompson.
PLEASE NOTE: It is very important to remember, this is a living document. If the student changes courses, teachers, or for any other reason there is a change- The IGP must be changed and re-shared with your RC. This is a type on contract to your families that they are on track for graduation. Therefore any changes need to be approved.
