Current Season in New York
New York is currently still warming up, but still is a bit snowy though. The season technically is Spring there. The winters are leaving and it starting to be clear and sunny. Since they are close the equator it takes longer for that part of the country to warm up.
Temperatures in New York
The temperatures in New York range from 48 degrees to 29 degrees. New York has had a lot of snow in the past weeks and it is fair to say that it is getting better around the general area. The high temperature in New York for the week during February 28- March . The highest temperature for New York City was 48 degrees and it will certainly continue to fluctuate through March. The lowest low temperature was 29 degrees and that was when it was quite fair and sunny, but no snow because of the high air pressure in the area causing no condensation.
Winds in New York City
The winds in New York City can get pretty gusty and sometimes not so strong. The winds that affect the area are mostly the northeastern/western prevailing winds. The average wind speed for the area of the city is 4mph and it normally blows from the N and NW.
Precipitation in The City of New York
The precipitation was mainly snow and ice. Some days it was also rainy, but it would not be as often for that week because of the coming transition into the month of March. The amount of precipitation for the snow that came through was around 12 inches with 70% of it.
Humidity of New York City
New York City has had a lot of low to high type humidity over the week. The humidity was quite fair for the area and it had a humidity of on average of 45% and it did change over the rest of the days in the week from 40% to a high 88%. This is because New York is still having cold weather so they do not really have quite a bit of humidity at certain times.
Contact person
My contact person was my grandparents and they live on Long Island which is not that far away from the city and they live in the Bay Shore area near the coastline. They said that the weather there was mainly wet and snow covered much of the area and even when it was sunny it took a while for the snow to melt when it was sunny because the low temperatures delayed the melting.
Predicted Temperatures for New York City/state
The predictions I had made were in the freezing range, but it was not far from the actual temperatures that were recorded. My predictions were from 22 degrees to 50 degrees over that course of the week.
Climate in New York and around the city
The climate for New York City is mild and not originally cold for long until the months of summer and spring come around. The reason for the climate is because of the geographical location considering it is away from the equator. The original climate temperatures are around 58 degrees to 68 degrees in months of Spring and Summer, but deteriorate around the winter/fall months.
Location of New York City
The location of New York City is in the Northern U.S and the latitude is 40.7N. That is closer to the poles which is the reason why the climate is so cold and wet. also that it is on the leeward side of the mountains because the Appalachian Mountains protect the city from tornadoes which rarely ever happen. Hurricanes generally are more susceptible to the area because it is near the ocean. Also my city is large considering that the population of the city of New York is 20 million people. This has quite an affect considering that more people may seem to cause the weather to have certain fluctuations in the humidity and the precipitation. The Appalachian Mountains are near the city and it accounts for the rare occurrence of tornadoes which do not really even happen. My city is near the ocean and it can certainly affect it by the way it can have the high tides and sometimes in the warmer months of rain and stuff, flooding can happen. The ocean currents are cold ocean currents and normally the currents are high ones. This has quite an affect because it can cause certain problems. no it is not far from the ocean. If it were to be moved into inland it would be possibly not as cold because of the waters not creating such ice and the wind would probably be much worse and the ice or something. Also there would be no hurricanes, but maybe tornadoes.
