what happened to pompeii
tyanna hobbs
pompeii is often called the forgotten city.......
When did it occur...
August 24th 79 A.D, around noon the top of Mount Vesuvius exploded and red burning stones and ash shot 12 miles into the air. The earth had trembled for several minutes before the volcano erupted. The explosion shot ash, magma, and rock high into the air.Roofs caved in by the weight of the ashes and had killed the people that stayed inside when the volcano erupted.Over 20,000 people were buried in the ash. When the volcano did erupt there was thick bubbly lava, not quick running lava.More than 20,000 people died. The town that was once called beautiful was now called ash.
