THANK YOU CITY OF RICHMOND
Happy 30 Years of Service to LEAP
Thank you Richmond Public Library
In 1984 the California State Library enacted legislation to start a campaign for adult literacy. Public libraries embraced the idea of reaching out into the community to help adult learn to read and write. Richmond Public Library was one of the first to run with the idea. In the year of 1984, LEAP moved from idea to reality. LEAP trained volunteer literacy tutors, and adults whom never had the opportunity to fully learn the basic skills, transformed their lives. Many thanks to the thousands of volunteers who have contributed to the lives of many. Many thanks to the Richmond Public Library Directors who continue to support LEAP. Many thanks to the caring staff who teach with their heart and their minds. Many thanks to the community members who continue to be tutors. Many thanks to the community members who say yes to life long learning.
