Cullman City Schools
The Week in Review - February 1, 2019
Hello February!
We made it! January is behind us. As we head into February let's continue our hard work and dedication to quality education for all students in CCS.
State Superintendent Mackey Visits CCS
State Superintendent Dr. Eric Mackey and Assistant Superintendent Dr. Jeff Langham were on site today for a visit. Dr. Mackey and Dr. Langham made stops at the Cullman City Board of Education, Cullman City Primary School and Cullman High School. They visited classrooms, observed students during instructional activities and had opportunities to speak with students, reading coaches, custodians and teachers. The two state dignitaries were genuinely impressed with our school facilities and the quality of instruction and classroom management that was apparent as they toured.
CCPS Supporting the Community
CCPS students, families and teachers did an outstanding job collecting canned food items recently. These items will be donated to help support families in our community.
Course Fair at CHS
Registration meetings were held at CHS this week. Students were provided with a Course Selection Fair that allowed them the opportunity to investigate and make class selections to prepare for a successful future.
Hitting the Mark
The EES Archery Team won the National Archery in the Schools Program Winter Warm-up Tournament!!
CMS Scholars
The CMS scholar's bowl team competed in the district tournament at West Point on January 26. They won 3 out of 4 rounds. Great job!
Brainpop Fractions
WES 3rd grade students in Mrs. Edwards' class started the day with Brainpop on Wednesday. Using Brainpop is a fun way to help students improve their understanding of fractions.
ESports Interest Meeting at CHS
Approximately forty CHS students attended an interest meeting for a Bearcat ESports Team this week. ESports is sanctioned by the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) and is a growing sport in districts across Alabama.
What Are Those Gizmos?
CMS students in pod 7A are in interacting with Gizmos, an online inquiry-based science simulation. They are observing the feeding relationships in a prairie ecosystem.
SeeSaw in First Grade
These 1st graders in Ms. Harris' Giraffe class at CCPS were introduced to SeeSaw this week and they were amazing! They were able to create photos, videos, drawings, notes and audio recordings to demonstrate their learning.
Oh the Places You Will Go
Dr. Seuss takes us lots of places, but at WES the new VR kits are taking students to some awesome locations for learning!
