Sherburn Hungate Weekly News - Spring Term - Issue 1
A word from Mr Broom
Many of our children have begun their new learning journeys with some amazing project launches. This is where we light the spark on learning and engage the children fully in the project. You can see the planning for these below and this can help to support your child throughout the term.
We took part in Young Voices 2019 on Wednesday evening at Sheffield Area and I have to say that our children must have been the envy of many a headteacher. Their politeness and attitude stood out like a light and I'm so proud of them. It was also a late night too, given that the coach didn't arrive back at school until 2215. There were many tired eyes on Thursday morning and that was just the staff! Thank you to everyone who helped and supported this wonderful experience that I'm sure the children will never forget.
I'd also like to welcome Mrs Dutton, our new teacher in Y6. Mrs Dutton will take over from Miss Walker to cover Miss Mackay's leadership time while she focusses on improving teaching and learning across the school. She's settled really well and is enjoying working with our Supersixes!
Next week, I'll be hosting pupil progress meetings with each class teacher. This is where we take a careful look at each and every individual child's progress and plan their next steps. I'm sure there will be lots to celebrate.

School Attendance - Termly Review
It's important that children attend school regularly and at Sherburn Hungate we recognise that excellent attendance leads to excellent achievement. Fact!
Our attendance for this week is 95.2%, which is below the national average. It's important that we all work on this so that we keep our our attendance up!
Our top attending class this week is Year 1 with 100%!
