From the President's Desk
Greetings from Hood!
We kick off the new year with exciting news!
We are launching our first Ph.D. program, counselor education and supervision, beginning in fall 2024. The program, based on guidelines set by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP), will train counselors, supervisors and counselor educators at the highest level.
We also announced the appointment of Mahesh P. Joshi, Ph.D., as the inaugural dean of The George B. Delaplaine Jr. School of Business. Joshi will lead the School of Business in its commitment to provide a high-quality education in business and economics for future leaders of industry, government and civil society, supporting the principles of economic, social, and environmental stewardship and sustainability.
We have great concerts and lectures, Blazer athletics, and of course, the Flying Cows! I hope to see you on campus soon.
Andrea E. Chapdelaine, Ph.D.

Hood Students Attend Osgood Professional Development Program
A group of nine Hood College students joined participants from around the world for a leadership program at the Osgood Center for International Studies in Washington, D.C. Part of the Professional Development Program, “Preparing to Lead” builds on the partnership between the Center and Hood College.
Hood students gained first-hand insight about what it means to be a leader in today’s complex and competitive world, giving them an inside look at both domestic and international policymaking and advocacy in the nation’s capital. Participants toured the George Washington University Elliott School of International Studies, the Capitol, the Millennium Challenge Corporation, various museums and think tanks, and even a penthouse at the infamous Watergate Apartments.
“The leadership program brought an incredible diversity of speakers,” said Ace Williams ’24. “These exceptional people not only shared their knowledge and experience, but also proved to be networking opportunities for us.”
