It looks like the heat has finally ended, leaves are turning and the new trimester is in full gear. It is fall. It's hard to believe it but midterms are only a few weeks away. They will be here before you know it so be sure to check out our extended Midterms hours. In addition, the library has more workshops and a pet therapy event nearby to meet your needs.
Over the summer break, the library was fortunate to install items students have been asking for. The sound muting study panels will hopefully alleviate inter-study room noise. And while we don't have the space to add more study rooms, the study pods offer a little bit more privacy compared to the tables and chairs in the open.
As I'm sure you've seen, IT and the facilities department have been busy implementing new devices that will work with our IDs to enter the building, enter locker rooms and release print jobs when we want them. If you haven't been paying attention, please do watch out for more announcements from them so you're ready to print in the library once the process is in place.
Finally, Monica Howell has created a display honoring the study of acupuncture in MN. Please take a moment to check it out when you get the chance.

Workshops
Intro to Library Services:
Oct. 1st at noon in the library classroom.
If you need a basic introduction on how the library can help you, this session is for you. Find out how to find full text, how to use interlibrary loan and ask questions about which databases will work best for you.
Introduction to Mendeley:
Oct. 2nd at noon in the library classroom.
Mendeley is a citation management system that is free to not only students but members of the general public. If you have a research paper coming up which involves storing and citing a large number of references, Mendeley could be the perfect tool for you. Stop by to learn more about it.
If none of these times work for you, never forget that you can contact Krista Jacobson at kjacobson@nwhealth.edu (or library@nwhealth.edu) to set up a independent consultation for Mendeley or research services to meet your specific needs.
What's New?
Please let us know how you like these improvements. We see the study pods getting used so thank you!
Hopefully, the sound panels will remove the noise between the study rooms as well.
Since nothing is going to be perfect, please don't forget that we have earplugs up at the information desk as well as noise cancelling headphones.
New Printing Process
When you print a document, it will only print when you tell it to print. There will be no more printing and forgetting where you send a document to the printer and then forget to pick it up. If you don't pick it up, it will never print.
If you make a mistake after hitting "print" (forgot to double side it/want it in black & white/accidentally sent too many copies) you will be able to adjust the printer settings before the document is printed.
You get to choose when and where you pick it up. There will still be the printers in the library but they can be found in other parts of the school as well.
You can email a document to the printer from any device.
Plus, there is a quick "scan to me" option.
The one thing you need to make sure you have is the new Student ID which will control your printing ability and access to the school.
If you haven't picked up your new ID from IT, do it today!
Acupuncture Display in Library

2018 marks the 40th anniversary of organized, professional acupuncture in Minnesota. The first Minnesota state acupuncture association, the Acupuncture Society of Minnesota, was founded in 1978 by Sean Marshall, Edith Davis, and Michael Helffrich. The ASM has gone through a few name changes and is now known as the Minnesota Acupuncture Association. One of the ASM’s founders, Edith Davis, also founded Minnesota’s first acupuncture clinic, Bao Jen, and the acupuncture and Chinese medicine school that eventually merged with Northwestern College of Chiropractic to create Northwestern Health Sciences University. Check out our display case in the library as well the interactive touchscreen display in the History Hallway to learn more!
