Rhode Island was founded by Roger Williams in 1636 because of his belief in separation of state and church, and religious freedom.

The population was full of different groups that were banished from their previous colonies for their religious views.
Native Groups
There was 4 native tribes that lived in Rhode Island:
The Wampanoag, who lived around the Mount Hope Bay area.
The Narragensetti lived throughout all of Rhode Island.
The Niantic, who lived around the Pawtuck River.
And also the Nipmuc, a nomadic group that traveled in Rhode Island.
Religion
Because Rhode Island was founded on religious views their was a wide range of religions.
Connecticut
Connecticut was founded in 1636 by Thomas Hooker because they were kicked out of Massachusetts Colony and was looking for more freedoms and financial opportunities.
Government
Became a crown colony in 1662, but originally run by the colonists.
Populations
The population consisted of several different groups because they would move here once kicked out of Massachusetts.
Native Groups
Native groups were the Mohegan tribe and the Pequot tribe.
There was conflict with the Pequot tribe because they wanted the land causing the Pequot war.
Religion
The colonists practiced a form of Protestantism similar to Puritans.
Massachusets
Massachusetts was founded in 1628 by John Winthrop because he wanted a place for Puritans to freely practice there religion.
Government
The colony was originally a charter colony and governed themselves, but became a crown colony in 1691.

The colonists where all people of the separatist religion.
Native Groups
The Wamapanoag tribe helped the first pilgrims survive and in 1920 they had the first Thanksgiving.

The main religion in colonial Massachusetts was Puritan.
New Hampshire
New Hampshire was founded by John Mason as a planned proprietary colony.
Government
New Hampshire was originally joined with Massachusetts, until 1679 when New Hampshire became a royal colony. They had a governor, advisers, and a general assembly.
Populations
The colonists where all people from England.
Native Groups
The tribes that were their where the Abenaki and the Pennacook, but were forced to leave because of colonial expansion.
Religions
Had several different religions with Puritan being one of the main ones.
