Knightly Update October 25, 2020
Edition Vol 9 Issue 13
Hello. I hope you are enjoying the weekend and looking forward to some cooler weather. We had another nice week at ACP. Students are still doing a nice job following safety guidelines, but it is obvious everyone is starting to get comfortable being on campus. Based on this observation, please help us by reminding your child to report to their 1st/2nd class when they arrive on campus and to be cognizant of social distancing (especially at the end of the day). The staff and I will do the same, but there is certainly a benefit in our students hearing this message from our entire community. Thank you for helping us to maintain the safest environment possible.
As you can imagine, there has been much happening since the announcement was made that we will be moving to the new school location next year. This week, I have arranged to hold community meetings throughout the month of November (see below). The purpose of these meetings is to share the history of ACP, review our current program and processes, discuss future potential course offerings, share schematics of the new facility, identify processes for review, answer questions, and assemble a school development committee comprised of parents, students, faculty, and staff. Please know the content shared at each meeting will be the same so families can choose the date that best meets their needs. I hope you will consider attending one of the meetings to learn about ACP High School.
Along with coordinating meetings, several questions have been asked after the Governing Board's vote. The questions most often asked include:
- Will transportation be provided as it is currently?
Yes, transportation will continue to be provided as it is currently and an additional stop will be added at our school's current location. - Will students wear uniforms?
Student dress standards, including uniforms, will be discussed via the school development meetings with final decisions being made by March. - How many students will attend ACP next year?
Based on current enrollment and families residing in established boundaries, the anticipated enrollment is approximately 1100 students. Obviously, COVID circumstances and open enrollment numbers will play a factor in final enrollment numbers for the 2021-2022 school year. Updates will be provided as the year progresses.
If you or your child has a question that isn't addressed above, please attend one of next month's community meetings or you are welcome to email me. I want to make sure all questions are answered correctly so everyone has the appropriate information as we move forward.
Just a quick reminder that students in grades 9-11 will be taking the PSAT assessment on Thursday. I wish our juniors the best of luck on this assessment as their score will be evaluated for National Merit Scholarship consideration. Please ensure your child is on time as we need to begin the exam as soon as the day begins. Good luck Class of 2022.
I hope you have a very nice week. Thank you for choosing ACP-Erie. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact me. And a quick reminder to review your child's academic progress via the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Enjoy your week.

All students received their student ID's when they took their individual pictures last week. It is important that students have their ID on their person and bring it with them to school and school events. Beginning this week, all students will need to show their ID's to get on CUSD buses. Please remind your child to have their ID on them at all times. If a student needs an ID or requires a replacement, they need to see Mrs. Arceo in our bookstore.
AP Exam Registration Deadline Extended
AP Exams Deadline for Registration and Payment Extended: To accommodate the multiple modifications in enrollment status, the AP deadline for registration and payment has been extended until November 6th. This is the final day to register and pay for AP exams. Please watch the AP videos on the ACP Counseling YouTube Channel. The channel will specifically outline how to create an account, register, and pay for exam.
IMPORTANT: If a student has not indicated "Yes" they will be taking an exam, then no exam will be ordered. For example, for any student that has selected "No" or "Undecided", an exam will not be ordered. If the student status is "Undecided" on the student account, counseling will flip this status to "No". As a result, no exam will be ordered. Please watch the video (link is below) for clarification. Have a great day.
