April 3 - BEST Writing Test
On Wednesday, April 3, Archers will complete their 2024 BEST Writing assessment test. Beginning with the 2022–23 school year, Florida’s statewide, standardized assessments in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics will be aligned with the Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking (B.E.S.T.). Writing is administered during each spring administration, and scores will be reported separately from Reading. They will not contribute to an overall ELA score.
Writing will be computer-based in all assessed grades, and prompts will be in response to texts.
Please join Lennar and Metro Development Group for the inaugural Angeline Pickleball Classic in support of Moffitt Cancer Center.
You can also volunteer to help staff and work this event. Volunteers will receive a t-shirt and light refreshments. Sign up to volunteer here: https://aai.pasco.k12.fl.us/mform/view.php?id=49395
Safety Information
Our district health & physical education team shared a link with instructors showing the many deceiving ways that vapes are being marketed to students. It's worth checking out to help keep an eye on this illegal and potentially risky behavior that students may explore.
Congratulations - Amazing Archer Accomplishments!

Teacher Appreciation Week 2024
Dear Parents/Guardians,
We've had a fantastic school year, and our teachers and amazing staff are the MVPs for making this year possible. Help us celebrate them during the week of May 6-10, 2024!
We are fortunate to have some generous business partners who have donated to help with some treats for this week, but we can use donations of snacks and drinks for Monday, May 6th--as well as some volunteers who would provide "room service" deliveries of treats for our teachers & staff. Are you able to contribute a snack, drink or staff our delivery team? We'd love any help you can offer. :)
8th Grade Dance Donations Needed
We are working to plan an 8th-grade dance to help mark the closing of the middle school chapter for our Archers. Would you consider donating some decorations and supplies?

Do you know someone interested in joining the Archer Nation for 2024-2025? Our second School Choice window opens April 15 through April 19. Families who are not already on a waiting list should submit an application to join our school family for the upcoming year.
One of the requirements for all 7th graders to attend school is to have the Tdap immunization. Please take your child to your physician or local Health Department for the necessary immunizations as soon as possible. Please return the required certificate of immunization (DOH680 form) to the school so we can document it in our records.
You can provide this documentation a couple different ways:
1) Bring a copy of the immunization record to the school for us to verify and note in our system.
2) Scan the document and send an email to (school nurse name), school nurse, at (SN email address)
Please note that students who have not provided documentation of this required immunization will not receive their class schedule during registration in August. If the required document is not received by the first day of school, your child will be excluded from school until proof of the vaccine is provided.
Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. Failure to respond by the above date may result in your child being unable to attend the first day of school.
April is National Financial Literacy Month which is a great opportunity to highlight the importance of financial literacy and teach our students how to establish and maintain healthy financial habits. To celebrate the month and encourage our students to be financially smart citizens in our communities, Pasco County Schools, in partnership with our valued community partners will offer virtual experiences and opportunities throughout the month. These events are designed to help parents/guardians, employees, community members and students with financial planning matters and getting more information for starting a financially successful future. Fun facts and resources will be featured throughout the month.
Teachers will also have the opportunity to sign up for virtual learning opportunities for themselves, as well as to have the opportunity to sign their classes up for guest speakers that will support the learning of the month.
Students can access Naviance for additional resources. Please use this link to learn how to login and navigate to the topics specific to their grade level and visit the district Financial Literacy webpage for more information.
Encourage students to be on the lookout beginning April 1st on their myPascoConnect dashboard with information on how to enter access a course through myLearning to build their understanding of financial literacy and be entered to win prizes! All stakeholders are encouraged to showcase the learning and tag #PascoFinancialLiteracy #PCSCelebratesFinancialLiteracy throughout the month.

Test Prep Resources
We would like to share a resource called Lexia Power Up that can help your child be more successful and earn a level 3 on the end-of-the-year FAST assessment. I am attaching a video and additional attachments regarding the program.
Your child can log into the program in their myPascoConnect. After the initial placement test, they should plan to spend about 20-25 minutes a day working in the program to improve their reading skills. We appreciate your support in helping your child be a more successful reader.
You can see how the program works here:

5 Ways to Make Sure Your Child Doesn’t Feel Overlooked
"Dad, we just need to go out more as a family." Those words from my teenage daughter pierced through my heart. And I knew exactly what she meant by it. I'm naturally an introverted homebody, and my daughter is naturally an extrovert who thrives around people and places away from home. In that moment, I realized this was her way of telling me how she wanted to feel more seen and valued through our family schedule. Is it possible that our kids can feel overlooked in their own home? Yes, it’s very possible, especially when quality family time seems scarce and schedules are very busy and demanding. But it doesn't have to be this way. Here are 5 ways to make sure your kids don't feel overlooked in your home.
Huddle up with your kids and ask, “What is one thing you want me to know about you?”
