From the Desk of Dr. Ricks
We have had a busy week and have jumped into the 19-20 school year like summer never happened! Many, many thanks to you for supporting our consultation from Rick and John of JCW Creative Agency. Without your willingness to volunteer, cover classrooms, attend meetings, and support your teachers, we could not have made the visit happen. From Wednesday through Friday, Rick and John observed and met with parents, students, teachers, Board members, Vestry members, parishioners, and other stakeholders. They will formalize their report within a couple of weeks or so, and share their good ideas about telling our "Grace" story as we move into this year of recruitment, retention, and strengthening our unique GES footprint in this community. We will certainly keep you posted because as parents and grandparents, you are such an integral part of the strength and vitality of our school.
Please note that our curriculum nights are coming up next week. I encourage you to come and have more "instructional" time with your teachers than you did on Back-to-School night. This is an opportunity to better understand the grading system, curriculum, course content, discipline procedures, character development strategies, and other ways in which we strive to educate and support students.
Lastly, please remember that establishing routines takes time. We have only gone through the full rotation one week, and students are just getting familiar with new teachers, classes, and expectations. Most situations tend to sort themselves out by Labor Day, but if you have concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Have a good weekend,
Dr. Ricks
