Welcoming April
How is it really the end of March already?!? We sent your child off with well wishes of some fun, enjoyment and time with family. This week concluded our secret behavior of making a positive contribution to the community. You student might have been given a bracelet for saying please or thank you, helping others, cleaning a space, giving a compliment or more. It was a fun way to stay positive in our week before Spring Break.
Thank you to the many members of the community who supported our invitation to surprise our teachers this week. The Chehalem staff enjoyed tea and coffee as well as a treat wagon full of drinks and snacks and the chance to win coffee gift cards or hot sauce. The team wanted to make sure you knew they felt the love!
In case you missed it, here is the Chehahlem book surprise spotlight on Fox 12 this morning. https://www.kptv.com/page/surprise-squad/

We’re excited to invite you to our upcoming Scholastic Book Fair. Hosted by our librarian, Ms. Blanchard and our PTO, this event is an opportunity for students of all ages to build their home libraries and further their love of reading. As always, all purchases benefit our school.
Here’s what you need to know about the Fair, which will take place from April 24th-April 27th. We will be open April 24th-April 26th before school (8-8:30), during lunch recesses (students only) and after school (3-4). Although we don’t have school on Thursday, April 27th due to conferences, we will still be open for book fair shopping from 12-6:30.
Our Book Fair offers eWallet, a safe and secure alternative to cash. Simply create a free account to add funds and/or invite family and friends to contribute so your child can select their own books.
If you can’t make it to the Fair, then shop at our school’s Online Book Fair. All orders ship directly to your home, and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Your online orders will also benefit our school.
Visit our Book Fair homepage to learn more and get started with eWallet and online shopping: https://www.scholastic.com/bf/chehalemelementaryschool
We need your help in order to run the fair and would love if you could sign up for ashift. You can access the volunteer sign-up link through our Book Fair homepage above, or also through this link: https://app.betterimpact.com/Login/Login
We’re excited to celebrate our love of books together at the Book Fair! We look forward to seeing you and your child(ren) there!
Happy reading,
Ms. Blanchard

Entering Full Day Absences in ParentVue
Follow these steps:
Open the ParentVUE app or access ParentVUE online.
Click the blue “Report Absence” button next to the appropriate student’s name.
Enter the absence date(s); if it’s a one-day absence, you don’t need to include an end date.
Select the reason for your student's absence and enter more information in the notes section.
Optional: take a photo of a doctor’s note or other documentation and attach it to the report.
Hit “Save.” Note: if school has already started for the day, the absence will not be recorded using this method.
After school has started, or to report a partial-day absence, you’ll need to call the school’s main phone line and report the absence by following the prompts.
