Supt. Dr. Keith Wood’s Update at the April 8 Board of Education Meeting

VVSD Staff Spotlight- Jackie Lyles, B.J. Ward Elementary Kindergarten Teacher
Prior to 2000, Jackie Lyles was working as an accountant in banking and was very satisfied with her career path. However, the turndown in the U.S. economy in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks forced Jackie’s employer to close.
Jackie started substitute teaching in VVSD and eventually became a paraprofessional at the Early Childhood Center. Jackie became interested in teaching but couldn’t take the time off from work, and from getting paid, to go back to school and student teach. That all changed when VVSD started a program that is now known as “Elevate U”. As Jackie says, the rest is history, as she nears completion of her first year as a full-time, certified, classroom teacher.
VVSD Kindergarten Enrollment for the Class of 2037 Now Open
VVSD Kindergarten registration for the Class of 2037 is now open through the online enrollment process. Families of current VVSD students will be able to register via their Infinite Campus Parent Portal account, while families new to the District will be able to register online.
