Leadership Opportunity for Sophomores and Juniors: Friends of Scarborough Marsh
For sophomore and junior students, there is a leadership opportunity with a local non-profit. The Friends of Scarborough Marsh is an organization dedicated to preserving the marsh through education, outreach, preservation, and conservation efforts. They are looking for two student members for their Board of Directors, one sophomore and one junior. A student member will serve for two years on the board. They will participate in discussions and decisions on projects that are supervised by the board. The focus is on projects that deal with the health of the marsh, such as preserving tracts of land from development, restoring the marsh to its previous state before man’s intrusion, testing the health of the marsh to monitor any changes or aberrations, and educating the public about threats to the marsh and what can be done. This is a great opportunity for students to get involved! The deadline will be at the end of April vacation, and applications can be found in the guidance department at the high school.
