MPA Minute
December 1, 2020
From the Principal:
I hope you had a great break. I'm sure you have read the news of an expected increase in Covid-19 positive cases in these days following Thanksgiving travel and time off. Please remember to notify the school if you or someone in your family tests positive for the Corona Virus. It is also important for you to notify us if your child is determined to be a close contact of a Covid-19 positive individual. The only way to keep numbers down at MPA is to make sure that as soon as we know about cases, we notify any close contacts and isolate or quarantine for the appropriate amount of time. When we add this to safe daily practices, we can limit the exposure here on campus. Please help us keep everyone safe.
Take care,
K. Jackson

Don't Let Go of Your Joy!
All I'm saying is, don't give away your joy so easily. Just because things may have to look different this year doesn't mean they can't happen. Open your mind to something new, something creative! This holiday season, make a plan to live and think outside of the box you've put your holiday plans in for all these years. I promise if you look for a way to keep the joy of the season, you may just find new traditions and limitless possibilities.
- Instead of your "Elf" flying all over your home, set up a socially distance spot for him/her and then change something about that spot daily. Or just quarantine him/her for 14 days and call it a day.
- Online shopping getting you down? Shop LOCAL. Visit that cute new shop on Pitt Street. Mask up and make a goal to support the community.
- Instead of a photographer for your holiday card, consider a cute family selfie or pick a few pictures from this year. Make the card about favorite memories.
- Are you worried about seeing family over the break, don't cancel plans...just change the plans to keep everyone safe. Join each other for a holiday Zoom, send e-gifts to family far away or do a gift exchange using pictures as clues. You can send a picture a day and then set a time to meet, have a meal and open the gifts on Zoom or at a quick family gift drive thru.
- Just not in the mood, look for some new holiday books to read with your children. Look for books with diverse themes and main characters. Make memories together.
- Get involved. Join our Student Council in collecting and donating pet supplies or donate to a local charity.
- Make a holiday sing along video to send to grandparents and family members you won't see over the break.
- The next time you attend a digital meeting, use a holiday background. I bet it will make others smile.
- Blast Holiday music every time you get in your car. Holiday classics or Holiday Hip Hop...there is something for everyone.
- Still not convinced it's worth it? Do it anyway! If you start something fun, you won't regret it.
