Principal's Message
WEEK ONE DONE!
Dear OSS Parents and Students,
Thank you for encouraging your students to participate and try their best on the SBAC testing. We finished English Language Arts assessment this week. Next week, students will be taking the Math test. 11th graders will be taking the Science test on Thursday.
The few students I spoke with felt good about their efforts.
We will kick off SBAC Math week with a burrito breakfast. Snacks will also be provided to help students power through the assessments. Students, get enough rest.
Students who were not taking the SBAC test took the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) test or worked on their career projects. I want to commend everyone for giving their tasks their most serious effort. The results of the MAP test is another indicator we can use to write a more accurate site plan for improving our academic services for our students. It also helps our teachers with their lesson planning.
This week, those who will not be SBAC testing will be working on their Project-Based Learning (PBL) projects or their career projects. Our PBL showcase night will be on Thursday, May 2 at 6:00 PM at the school. It will be combined with our Advanced Placement (AP) Information Night. I am excited for parents to see how their students have applied their learning through the projects they have created.
To help students and staff with planning, I have published a calendar of our school activities. I am also including information on Summer School 2024. I hope you find all these helpful as we look forward to finishing the school year STRONG.
GO WOLVES!
Sincerely,
Ms. Mary Rose Peralta

Solar Eclipse!
Students and Staff View Eclipse in Real Time
Through the kindness of teacher Ms. Razon, students and staff were able to safely view the solar eclipse as it occurred in real time through the telescope she set up out in the 200 hallway. It was a great experience for all our students at OSS and many took pictures of the image in the telescope. Enjoy the solar eclipse in color below, courtesy of Gressia Lizarraga.
