Solar Eclipse Activities Planned at PCR-3, April 8
You may have heard about the solar eclipse that will occur on April 8, 2024, visible across North America. While we are not in the path of totality, we'll have about 88% coverage in our area, with eclipse phenomena from approximately 1-3pm and peaking just before 2pm. Science teachers and other staff members in each of our buildings are organizing lessons and activities around the event and all students will receive specialized solar filter eclipse glasses and will have the opportunity to view the eclipse. Specific information about each building's activities will be sent via your child's school newsletters. THIS IS WHAT I'M INCLUDING IN E-TREASURES. PLEASE INCLUDE ANY DETAILS FROM YOUR BUILDING.

Make Up Day Plans
With our inclement weather days in January, and no school on February 14 to celebrate the Chiefs Super Bowl parade, our make up day plans to date are as follows:
- January 9 Inclement Weather Day - Will be made up on Thursday, May 23
- January 10 Inclement Weather Day - Will be made up on Friday, May 24
- January 16, 19, and 23 Virtual Learning Days - Will not need to be made up
- February 14 No School Day - Because our attendance hours exceed the necessary hours set forth by the state, the Board has approved not making this day up
We are Cool Leaders!
As we only have April and May remaining in our school year, we are going to run one more incentives program for the cafeteria.
Students who demonstrate exemplary cafeteria behavior will be given a trophy coloring page that they can color and return to be hung in the cafeteria. If a grade level has a great day in the cafeteria, they will be given a letter (on the cafeteria bulletin board). When a grade level spells out the word, "LEADER", they will get popsicles.

👩⚕️From Our Nurse
Given the colder climate and the proximity of outerwear, there have been isolated instances of head lice reported within the school community. For more information on prevention or treatment- contact Nurse Angela at 816-436-9623 or bacha@platteco.k12.mo.us
NEW CDC GUIDELINES
Hello!
The CDC no longer requires 5 days of quarantine after a COVID diagnosis. That means the district also no longer requires a 5 day quarantine for staff or students. You are required to stay home until symptoms improve and no fever for 24 hours on no medication - just like our guidance for other illnesses.

🛑Safe Schools
Bullying and Safety Concerns: Online Reporting System
Safety is one of our district’s top priorities, and to help safeguard our school community, our District uses Safe Schools Alert, a tip reporting service by Vector Solutions, that allows students, staff, and parents to submit safety concerns to our administration.
You and your child can easily report tips on bullying, harassment, or any safety issue you're concerned about through this online reporting system. On the homepage of the District website (www.plattecountyschooldistrict.com) and on each school building's homepage there is a Safe Schools quicklink which links to the reporting tool. Every tip Vector Solutions receives about our District is immediately logged in the system and our administration is notified so that they can investigate and take appropriate action. Tips may also be submitted anonymously if you prefer. Together, we can make our District a safer place to learn.
🍕Lunch Visitor Sign Up & Menus
Parents & Guardians,
We love that many of you take the time to come eat with your children! To help the staff in the lunchroom we would appreciate if you could please follow the expectations listed below:
- Please only invite your specific children to eat with you.
- Help your children follow the lunchroom expectations the rest of the cafeteria is asked to follow like remaining at the table until their class is dismissed.
- When you have finished your lunchtime, please return to the front office rather than making rounds through the cafeteria to say hello to other students. The other students would love a wave though!
Thank you for wanting to be a part of our school community and we'll see you at lunch!
