Eagle Eye Faculty and Staff E-News
May 29-June 2
An Ethic of Excellence
Thank you to everyone who has made this week possible. Our children have truly enjoyed themselves and it is due to all of our staff and volunteers that we are able to provide these opportunities for children and the families that we serve. I am so proud of our school! It is amazing to watch how we work together as a team and as a family to accomplish many, many tasks. We often say to one another, "We've got this!" It is often said as encouragement to others who are feeling the pressures of our responsibilities and often said as a reminder to ourselves that there is very little we can't accomplish when we work together.
Last week I challenged you to extend grace, forgive easily, think before you speak, lend a helping hand, practice peace and try not to be too hard on yourselves! We have seen you do this all week long. You have risen to this challenge and so much more! You have all stepped in without being asked, you have helped work out problems and worked through logistical matters. You have embodied who we are as a school family! Thank you for showing your Ebinport Spirit! We are counting down the hours until our toes are in the sand!! Whoo hoo!!

You may leave at 1:30 today assuming your end of year checklist is signed off on by all parties. Please keep in mind that Marco and Lisa are on the checkout list and can leave at 1:30 also, you may want to get their signatures early. This year, there can be no exceptions to checking out on Friday. The movers will be here Saturday and Sunday and demolition begins Monday morning.
**Please remind parents that there is no school May 29. May 31 and June 1 are half days. Also, the front office will be closed to visitors on June 2 and June 5 so that we can get packed up to move to the new office and complete teacher checkout.
**After June 2, there will be no entry into the building during demolition. I will make announcements through summer updates when halls are ready for re-entry. This will mean that some halls will have access to the building longer than others, I know that when we are all able to return we will be all hands on deck supporting each other! I PROMISE you as soon as your room is ready, I will let you know you can enter!

F and P Spreadsheets for 2017-2018

It says that grade level chairs are responsible for collecting these from your grade level and sending to Mrs. Kelsey via email. Please complete these after your placement meeting. It should be done before you leave for summer. While we make every effort not make changes, we know that we will have students moving in and out during the summer and changes to rosters will be necessary.

Meet the Teacher Night: Save the Date!
New Teacher Door Signs
As you know, there will be a lot of movement and new staff at Ebinport next year. Considering we are no longer a School of Choice for Global Studies, it is appropriate to get new teacher door signs. All ideas are welcomed and appreciated. If you have a particular design you like, please submit it to Mr. Hollingsworth by Friday, May 26. Just as we are doing for the back to school t-shirts, the staff will vote on the design. With all the physical and decorative changes going on, it feels like we should have our own show on the DIY or HGTV channel. I look forward to seeing your creations.
Employees New to Rock Hill Schools
The training will be July 31-Aug 3 at Castle Heights Middle School. This includes teachers who have been teaching in other districts but are new to RHSD.
Classroom Moves
We received green labels this week. These should be used on items that need to be moved to the cafeteria until you new home is built. Please put your future room number on this label.
Information Needed
Items Need to Be Moved/Cleaned Out
As you know, Mrs. Silva will be on a cart next year with Spanish. Originally, I had put her in the science closet. After much deliberation, she feels she will be more comfortable in the room that houses F and P recording papers. With this being said, there are some small items in this room that could be moved/consolidated to give her at least one set of shelves in which she can put some things. She will also need to put a desk in there. If you have items in this room that can be moved or arranged differently to give her room please have this moved. The clothes in that room will need to be moved to the room between Ms. Riley's room and the science closet. This will aid in allowing her room to move her things in her new "office."

FREE ESOL Endorsement
Dear Teachers and Administrators,
NExT LEVEL (NETwork for Leading Education that Values English Learners) is a five‐year U.S. Department of Education National Professional Development (NPD) Program grant awarded to Winthrop University and three district partners (Fort Mill, Lancaster, and Rock Hill). NExT LEVEL aims to provide practical and focused solutions to meeting the needs of English Learners and their families through professional development for teachers and administrators, coursework for add‐on ESOL certification, and opportunities for university teacher educators and teacher candidates.
NExT LEVEL began with two Professional Development Schools that are becoming model sites for demonstrating a whole‐school culture shift focused on linguistically diverse students and families. We are now expanding the opportunities to your school, one of ten Partner Schools identified as experiencing significant growth in English Learner populations. Through this shared professional learning, we will establish a network of professionals trained and committed to serving the needs of all students and their families.
The first opportunity is for 12-16 professionals at each school site to receive two free graduate courses (see attached descriptions) that will result in a proposed English Learner endorsement similar to the current GT endorsement. This endorsement is slated for review by the State Department of Education early fall. Then, two cohorts of fifty participants will receive the additional courses necessary for certification. The courses are delivered in a hybrid format with some sessions conducted face-to-face at Winthrop and others online; one in fall 2017 and one in spring 2018. Finally, we will work with schools and districts to implement a family education and support program.
We hope you will take advantage of this amazing opportunity to work with other colleagues in your school in becoming a leader in English Learner education! The courses are open to certified teachers, administrators, and other school professionals. Please use the link below to indicate your interest by Friday, June 2. Should we have more applicants than we can take in the first round, we will use your responses in consultation with school and district administrators to identify the first cohort (we will have an additional cohort next fall). Final participants will be notified by mid- to late-June in order to prepare for the fall class.
Please let us know if you have any questions - we looking forward to working with you soon!

8th Annual Partnership Conference for Education Renewal Each year Winthrop University-School Partnership Network faculty, teachers, administrators, and teacher candidates gather to share their expertise and best practice at the Partnership Conference for Educational Renewal. With the wealth of knowledge that exists in our "own backyard," the conference offers a time to disseminate successful strategies, discuss challenging contexts, and engage in collaborative problem solving. Growing from less than a hundred participants at the first conference to close to three hundred last year, this event highlights our shared commitment to student learning and professional growth. Main conference occurs on Tuesday, June 6 with pre-conference workshops on Monday, June 5.
.
Upon completing your registration, you will be redirected to “SCHED,” our conference website. You will also receive two emails, a confirmation from Eventbrite with your tickets to the event (no need to keep) as well as an email from SCHED, allowing you to visit the site at a future date. If you do not already have an account with SCHED, it will provide you with a username and instruct you to create a password. However, if you do have a preexisting account, the site will simply direct you to log in.
SCHED allows you to view the conference schedule, reserve your place in sessions, receive email updates, and access handouts/presentations (available by June 3rd). You also have the option to complete a profile and connect with other conference attendees. Science Summer PD
Science Grades K-5
This summer, elementary teachers will look at the vertical alignment of science standards, science benchmark data, and teachers of grades 3-5 will learn how to make better use of the Discovery Education/Canvas integration. Teachers of grades K-2 will learn how to use Pearson Realize resources. We will meet June 26 and 27 from 8:30-3:30pm at Rawlinson Road Middle School. (These dates are a change from the dates listed in the PD offerings sent a few weeks ago, so as to avoid conflicting with dates for other PD.) Please sign up in My Learning Plan.
Science Grades 6-8
The focus of this summer's work will be to define and differentiate our Grade-Level and Advanced MS Science coursework. We will begin looking at this on May 4, 2017 during our MS Unit Planning session at Sullivan MS. We will continue this work on June 12 and 13 from 8:30-3:30pm at Rawlinson Road Middle School. A group of teachers representing each grade-level is imperative to make our work useful for everyone involved. Please sign up in My Learning Plan.
High School Science
The focus of this summer's work will be to define and differentiate the College Preparatory and Honors coursework for our high school students. We plan to work June 19 and 20 from 8:30-3:30pm at Rawlinson Road Middle School. Teachers representing each course are needed in order for this work to be feasible for each course. Please sign up in My Learning Plan.
