EMS 2018-2019 Goals

Team -
I hope you all had a restful break and took the time to sign off and rejuvenate.
Before we left for break Team Leaders met, shared, synthesized and dug into the scheduling priorities discussed by all teams during our Wednesday Faculty meeting. The outcome we agreed and committed to at the end of this work is below and represents our final scheduling priorities for 2019-2020.
- Meeting the needs of sped students/ mental health and academic skills
- Seeing expl. classes every day and equal class time.
- Purposeful placement of students on teams and in exploratory classes
- Regular rotation for exploratory classes./ no enrichment notation/ PE every day
- Dedicated time of day for groups of kids and adults connect (morning?)
- Flexible scheduling (on team, time can be divided by teachers)
- Dedicated Time to Teaching soft skills/executive functioning skills
- Tier one support block
- Students are placed in intervention based on needs (reading, math, guided study, literacy, numeracy, academic skills) Summit placements
Below is an updated timeline that we’ll use to continue to guide this process. In order to continue to create voice for all in this process and ultimately to create a collective vision discussions on team and then decisions by Team leaders and in some cases Teacher Partners will occur in the coming months.
- 2/11 - 2/22: Run the numbers and gather the data. Assess what we need in terms of courses based on our numbers - ex number of sections for different math classes.
- 2/11 - 2/22: Cross reference needs and current capacity and establish additional needs and additional capacity
- 2/11 - 2/22: Communicate with Central office re: additional needs and hurdles that need to be removed
- 2/11 - 2/22: Collaborate with HMS in order to establish how shared FTE will be done in the most effective manner
- Ashley please add date and put in my calendar ;) Identify plan for 6th grade model next year
- 3/7: Finalize math plan for next year - off team or on team
- 3/21: Team Leaders agree and commit to what connection time priority will look like next year
- 3/21: Teacher Partners agree and commit to what intervention time will look like next year
- 3/6- 3/20: the data and clarify need for next year
- 3/22 - 4/3: Teams draft a proposed schedule based on our priorities. Team work makes the dream work - ensure collective voice and vision
- 4/4: Team Leaders and Teacher Partners review schedules and use escalated protocol to problem solve
- 4/4 4/19: Reviewed by external consultant/s to consider unintended consequences
- Schedule requires a specific expertise
- 4/29 - 5/1: Schedule shared with Teams for final feedback. Team work makes the dream work - ensure collective voice and vision
- 5/3 : 2019-2020 student scheduling begins. Start early to ensure priorities are met and priorities are met for all students
- 6/14: Teams review schedule and rosters to provide feedback to guidance
The work of looking ahead while continuing to maintain our focus on this year is a gentle balance. Thank you all for your partnership and collaboration as we do so.
