Rock the State Tests Durham!
Rock The State Tests Durham!
Here’s How You Can Help Prepare Your Student
Dear Parents and Guardians,
It’s that time of year when our students have an opportunity to showcase their knowledge and skills by taking part in State Testing. The Durham testing window is as follows:
ELA and Math: Grades 3-5, April 22nd - May 3rd
Here are some suggestions to help your student do their very best:
SLEEP
Make sure your child gets a good night's sleep before testing. It is best if students do not have electronics during bedtime to assist with sleep.
BREAKFAST
Eating a balanced breakfast, either at home or at school can significantly improve students’ focus and performance.
ENCOURAGEMENT
Please encourage your child to do their best! Some students may feel a little nervous about the tests. Reassure your students that they have been practicing and preparing for the test the entire year. They are ready, and just need to do the best that they can.
ELECTRONICS
Students are not allowed to have any electronic devices on testing days. Please do not send electronic devices to school with your student on testing days. This includes smart watches, phones, fitness trackers, tablets.
We are very proud of our students and appreciate the support of our parents and guardians. We know that with our partnership, your students will feel confident and encouraged to their best. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
Tami Badinger
Assistant Principal, Durham Elementary School
School Activities
In Mrs. Sullivan's third grade classroom, students learn how to write an introductory paragraph by making a crockpot cake.
Samba Practice for 5th Graders
As our students prepare to perform Samba music at the Junior Rose Festival Parade in June, they receive personalized instruction from the " Pink Martini's" drummer Brian L. Davis.
Atentamente,
Tami Badinger
