Titan Staff News
Week of October 23
Titans,
Thank you for your time this morning as we welcomed Dr. Warren to our staff meeting. I know he enjoyed his time on campuses and getting to know each of us. I would reinforce his message about being aware and active regarding the newest meeting of our Texas Legislature. I encourage each of you to find out who you representatives are and make your voice known regarding educational issues.
I will be talking with our Leadership Team this week about our campus Distinction Report and how we can focus on increasing our student achievement through increasing our rigor level. As you work through your lesson planning for the upcoming weeks, keep this as an intentional thought at the forefront of your planning. We'll revisit the topic as we regain our focus on the Problem of Practice at our Nov 4 Staff Meeting.
Have a great weekend,
Kim

PLC Work
This week you'll meet in specific content areas.
October 24 – Have I intentionally planned to incorporate critical writing in my lesson design?
Task: Bring several samples of student writing from the previous week to your PLC. Look for trends and patterns across your content area.
Using the color coded Bloom’s chart from ICLE, how does this sample of critical writing support rigorous and thoughtful academic language? At what level of learning are my students writing? What instructional adjustments need to be made in order to provide students with a stronger instructional framework for critical writing?
