A Message From Principal Abeal
The bear cubs celebrated Read Across America week February 29th - March 1st. We had several guest readers celebrate with the bear cubs including Dr. Handerhan, Superintendent of Schools, Mrs. Mc Cann, Assistant Superintendent, the Wall Township Police Department, and retired West Belmar Staff Members. What an exciting week to celebrate one of America’s greatest children’s authors.
On the evening of March 8th, the PTA hosted its annual gift auction at The Spring Lake Manor. This was an excellent night for our school community and all proceeds will support the PTA’s endeavors including class trips assemblies, and special projects.
The Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh’s of Belmar came to West Belmar to spread some St. Patrick’s Day luck on the bear cubs. The bag pipers and drummers did an amazing job along with the student helpers holding the American and New Jersey Flags.
The Skatetime roller skating unit began in PE classes and the students are having so much fun. The students are learning the lifetime activity of skating. The skating unit will last until April 7th. A special thank you to our PTA for supporting this project for the bear cubs!
Book Bingo will be held on March 14th in the gymnasium from 6:30 – 8:00 pm. Come join the family fun and let’s see who calls the special word of the evening, BINGO!
