Raider Update
A Weekly eNewsletter from Hastings Public Schools
Message from the Superintendent
Happy Weekend Raider Families!
I hope your family is staying healthy during this continued time of COVID and you had an opportunity to reflect on what you're grateful for during this Thanksgiving break. For me, this past weekend reminded me how thankful I am for the community, staff and students we have in Hastings! I appreciate the support and grace you have given teachers and administrators as they work hard to best support your students.
Tomorrow marks the day that all students in grades k-12 will be in distance learning which will continue through at least January 4. During the week of December 20, we will be making additional timeline decisions. Our communications will continue through the weekly Raider Update as well as through school-specific messaging. Please be sure we have your most up-to-date email and cell phone numbers in Infinite Campus. If you are not sure, you can look in Infinite Campus or contact a school secretary to help you. For information about how to check your information in Campus, please take a look at these help documents:

The numbers of positive COVID cases continue to rise in our Raider community, as do the number of people needing to quarantine due to close contact. I know COVID fatigue has set in, however it takes all of us to keep all of us safe! Please continue to let your building administration know what is working and not working. Have a great and safe week!

School Meals
Because of a different source of funding, all children 18 and under are welcome to participate in our meal program (no eligibility requirements and no sign up necessary). During distance learning, school meals will be delivered to bus stops. If your child receives alternative transportation, they can pick up meals at their neighborhood bus stop. You are welcome to use either the elementary or secondary drop off times (whichever best meets your family schedule). Please use this map for students in the non-bus zone or call the District Office at 651-480-7003 to confirm your child's bus stop.
- Cohort A: pick up 3 meals (breakfast and lunch) each Monday. Pick up 2 meals (breakfast and lunch) each Thursday.
- Cohort B: pick up 3 meals (breakfast and lunch) each Tuesday. Pick up 2 meals (breakfast and lunch) each Friday.
If it is more convenient, or if your child misses the meal pick up, you can stop by the District Office between 8 am – 10 am to pick up your bag(s) while supplies last. Please only take 1 bag per child 18 or younger. To find the menus or see an image of an example lunch bag, please visit our webpage. Menus are also available on the Nutrislice app.

Early Childhood Screening
All children must be screened prior to entering kindergarten. This year, Early Childhood Screening will take place in a virtual format and will continue to assess all the necessary components to fulfill screening expectations for children ages 3-5. If you would like further information or to schedule a virtual screening appointment, please call 480-7381 or email Linda Gunter.
