BHS Bucks Principal's Update
Mid-November 2020
Dear BHS students and families,
I'd like to first say thank you to all the parents and students who have been effected by quarantine. I understand how difficult it is to stay away from friends and family and to be out of school for long periods of time, not to mention the outside activities and appointments that have to be cancelled. Thank you for your patience and understanding when we call you to deliver the news that we don't want to deliver. Unfortunately, it's our responsibility to keep all kids safe in our building and that includes excluding students from the general population based on the Health Department's recommendations. As positive COVID cases are on the rise all over the state, our school is not immune to the same increases. We know these days of quarantine aren't easy and we just want to say thank you for making the best of a bad situation. It's very important that all students who are in quarantine continue working on their courses.
With that being said, I am sure you have heard from the superintendent that the entire district is going remote starting tomorrow, November 11th until December 7th. This was not a decision made lightly and we feel it is in the best interest of all students and teachers to go down this path and ride this wave of increased exposure. We understand the hardship that this may cause some of our families and understand the frustrations and anger this causes. Please read the enclosed information with regard to our remote learning.
We sent out a non-internet survey a few weeks ago. If you are a family who is not capable of securing internet due to your location, please contact the school and let us know who you are, or simply fill out this quick form and we will be alerted to who in our school community is not capable of receiving internet in their homes. We will have flash drives available for each student that teachers will load with assignments to be completed. We will do our best to communicate so that your student will have the most similar educational experience as possible to those who do have internet. We will also open internet rooms so students may come into the building to use the internet to complete their assignments. Please contact the office if your family is in need of this option.
As Thanksgiving approaches us, we count our blessings and are thankful for you, our students and families, our school community, our leaders, our teachers, and our support staff, without whom Buchanan is just another school. If at any time you need some assistance, please reach to us. We are here for you.
Together, we are #BUCKSTRONG!
Sincerely,
Mrs. DeMaio
