Supporting Your Child
Many of our students and families have been greatly affected by the loss of one of our Buckeye students this week. As we shared with families we met with on Sunday, we encourage you to have age-appropriate conversations with your children regarding grief and loss. In particular, discussion about suicide can be difficult but necessary to have with those students struggling with how to understand. PDF handouts that the district has distributed to families that provide guidance for parents on holding these difficult conversations and resources for area counseling services are provided in a PDF file below. If you find your child continues to struggle beyond the normal stages of grief or are struggling with anxiety or depressions our counselors are available to assist you and your child Thank you for your ongoing support during this difficult time.
Summer Job Opportunities
Safe Driving Event!
Dear Parent/Guardian:
This past week we hosted "Save a Life Distracted Driving" programming for students in 10-12th grade in order to help provide students with information and education on the dangers of impaired and distracted driving. We will again be working to promote safe driving practices amongst our student population as we approach the summer months . On Tuesday, May 14th beginning at 6:30 am, the Medina County Safe Communities Coalition, the Medina Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Law Enforcement, and Buckeye Schools will be teaching Buckeye High School students about seat belt safety. Students “caught” wearing seat belts during an unannounced inspection will be rewarded with a coupon for a free burger or beverage from a local McDonald’s restaurant. Ohio State Highway Patrol Troopers and Coalition members will begin conducting random seat belt checks as students arrive at the school. All students will receive a gift bag of information and give-a-ways.
Citations WILL NOT be given to unbelted drivers.
“Buckle Up for a Burger” is an awareness event held in conjunction with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) “Click It or Ticket” seatbelt safety campaign.
Please help make the event successful by NOT sharing this information with students. For questions, please feel free to contact either of us at the information below.
